Having a move around of the man cave and its time for a new desk

I want it to span 3.6m and a minimum of 60mm deep

so my question is... where is best to buy that length of worktop?

Glaucus, Dholdi I was one step ahead. I was betting on it being 60cm or 600mm and that it was a typo ;) the clue was in his use of dimension words

If you go for solid oak butcher block worktop you can get these up to 4m I believe. My mate ordered one from ebay and got them to cut it to a specific size for his desk.

Worktop Express do solid wood work tops up to 4m for very reasonable cost. They'll probably cut you one to 3.6 as well (worth it because believe me, a 4m piece of solid timber worktop is very heavy!).

Sorry about the off topic Kaptainmarc, I've bought Oak sections at around 3000mm x 600mm x 16mm (I think) for about £80+ vat from timber merchants. You can get thicker stuff if you go for counter top, gets heavy though. I think Ikea does sections for use as desk, just depends on what you will use it for.

The oak I got was a bit of a pain to cut down as its solid oak rather than veneer and it destroyed a circular saw blade after cutting apart two of those boards. They made good door surrounds for my flat works to replace the old multi generational painted pine ones :D

+1 for worktop express. I bought Iroko Wooden Worktop 2M X 960mm X 40mm for my computer desk recently. 40mm was overkill & its bloody heavy!

I actually trimmed it down with a plunge-saw and the excess is to be used as either multiple shelves or one long 2M shelf. Still in the building process will be using meranti for the legs and iroko looks fab!
