So been out of the pc budget used builds for a long time and looking for some advice.

Woman at works son is looking to get in to pc gaming instead of console and has a budget of 300 max.

I was thinking of the below sort of used build for 1080p gaming of GTA V, CS etc

AMD Black quad core
8GB DDR3
ATX MOBO
ATX Case and 480W psu bundle on ocuk for about 45 quid.
1tb basic 3.5 seagate
120GB SSD
Radeon 7850 or 7950 if budget can stetch

Does this sound doable with mixed used and new parts on the budget or does anyone have any other suggestions.

KB/mouse monitor speakers headset etc all not included in budget.

I'd aim for something a little better if looking second hand. E.g. a 2500K bundle for £120-160 range, case and PSU you listed (£45), SSD (£30), 7850 (£30-50), new HDD (£40) In budget if you get good prices. :)

Its worth mentioning GTA V is heavy on CPU and GPU I don't know if what you have there will be a console beating experience or even usable..

Thanks for the advice folks. So we looking at i5 minimum for GTA V, What about graphics card for it?

Not necessarily, old ones are just quite common used. almoststew1990 did some testing the other day and showed you only need 2 relatively nippy cores to get a playable game.

Browse youtube for people's recordings with various systems to see how it plays.

Your original idea of something like an X4 860K would be fine (it's still recommended on Tom's), really depends on how much hunting around you can afford to do.

(Although it's a bit "poppy" (stuff popping in) so I'd probably try High settings etc.)
