Unmarked 08 plate Golf GTI on M40?

I was thinking the same as well Mart however the possibility of it being a Doctor's own car does make sense.

Thanks all, and sneaky they're now tucking all the bits and bobs out of site in unmarked police cars too.

The unmarked bikers are the worst, there's absolutely nothing you can spot to pick them out until you're already in trouble.

It'll either be a Doctor or Ambulance Service senior staff responding to an incident. One of the senior clinicians at the Trust I used to work at had her private Golf R kitted with lights. Now that was a rapid response vehicle :D

For some reason Birmingham have a lot of these sort of cars, I've seen an unmarked gold E46 Y reg 318i attending a major RTC before - saw it come flying down the hard shoulder and thought 'WTF'. Seen a similar ancient Volvo recently as well.

But if it is one of the old Volvo V70 traffic cars it will have a tuned up T5 lump for high speed persuits. Quite a sleeper. :D They had then between '00 and '06 I believe.

Cool cars...

The new unmarked cars (all 15 plates) around the Bromsgrove area are totally invisible until they light them up, fortunately no1) they can't catch me and no2) I know the cars as they have picked some "weird" color combos which stand out when you see them every day.

I did once see two cars not that dissimilar to those in the OP (plus they were scruffy) with similar lighting on the M1. They were driving about 3 inches apart. I reckon they may well have been dodgy.

I drive through Bromsgrove every day to Redditch - any chance of a hint?:p:D

FWIW, i have a friend who is a Doctor and is pretty much on call 24/7. He drives his own Audi RS3 which has had blues and two's installed so essentially, its a civvie car, just with blue lights added for is he's called out.

A matte dark grey 4x4. I forget which model it is, but the matte grey paintwork gives it away.

And your normal unmarked BMW but the paint is an unusual blue/grey metallic with blacked out rear windows.

You know, I think I've found the solution.
Not amazingly difficult, keep to the speed limits.

Why would I want to do that? Just don't drive like a dick, the chances of getting pulled for 80mph on a DCW or motorway are almost non-existant unless you are making yourself stand out.

Now THAT is an easy question to answer.
Just WHO do you think pays for the proliferation of speed cameras that we have? You know as well as I do that their primary purpose it to make money.

Just imagine that EVERYONE kept to the speed limit for say 3-6 months.
How quickly do you think that the councils would remove them as they not only wouldn't be making money, but they'd be COSTING them money.
The implications being that we could get away with the "occasional" hoon, just as long as we kept it in our trousers for the rest of the time.

YOUR logic is the reason why the more careful of us are now faced with the cameras.

Does any police force own a car that's more than 3 months old before replacing it with a new one? :p

If it had an 08 year it must have been a private plate if there were police in it.

Sounds more like Fire brigade to me.

My station has a few 58 plates. We're being told that we'll have to keep cars for longer in future.

Medical and fire response personnel around here seem to use performance Golfs a lot for some reason - the unmarked police cars are mostly Focus STs (though you can see the lights behind the grill fairly easily) and the odd Audi or BMW.
