Hey guys,

Unfortunately for the 2nd time the above card has died on me. I'm not a heavy gamer, I play the odd game, and I don't overclock my graphics card (although mainly that is because this card overclocks like a turnip)
I've submitted a webnote, but my question is this.
Will OcUK allow me to pick a replacement?
I cannot be without my computer for upto 6 weeks for the second time while KFA2 scratch their heads.
This is an expensive graphics card.
I have zero confidence in this brand or their support at this point.
Sorry if this is against the rules, but as OcUK are now closed until Monday I have little recourse to speak to them until then.
Anyone had similar experiences?

Just to specify - That's two failed HoF's in 6 months.

Thanks

Did you buy the original card less than 6 months ago or is it that was the period between each one dying?

If you are rma'ing to OcUK it should be sorted within 28 days usually.

Its between yourselves ocuk and Ocuk 6 months is very short. I would post in the customer help section of the forum. I find you get better responses than webnote

I had simlair issue with gigabyte had 2* 7970 die in 9 months. I said I wanted a refund gigabyte and ocuk agreed and got my full amount back 500 pounds..
Ended up waiting and buy 2*980 Gigabyte's :)

Just make your case clear your unhappy and no longer trust the brand.
They don't have to give you a refund but be clear and don't send a angry message and ocuk will try their best to get the best outcome for you

My first was bought on the first of October, it died around December. The second has just died tonight.
So each one lasted 2-3 months.
4 weeks without a computer is too much to ask for a second time in 6 months.

And , just so we are clear - I'm not blaming OcUK at all for this, It's not their fault in the slightest.

Unfortunately these things happen and could possibly be down to sheer bad luck.

As you purchased your goods from 1 October 2015 then the Consumer Rights Act applies and according to this:

If an attempt at repair or replacement has failed, you have the right to reject the goods for a full refund or price reduction - if you wish to keep the product.
No deduction can be made from a refund in the first six months following an unsuccessful attempt at repair or replacement.

Thanks for that , upon checking seems I purchased it on the 30th Sep, so I might be just out of date for that.
I don't even want a refund, I'm happy to buy at OcUK, I just want a different brand.

I do understand the frustration you must be feeling and obviously you shouldn't be in this situation but playing Devils Advocate if you have on board graphics you can't really claim that you are without a computer especially as you have indicated you don't do much gaming anyhow. If for some reason you don't have on board graphics then you need to make this clear when you are in contact with OCUK.

We know how OCUK deal with such issues as long as you are reasonable and not rude, But I've not read any KFA experiences so best of luck and please keep us updated here.
I always thought KFA/Galaxy hardware was pretty good so I will be interested to know how they deal with your problem.

you haven't said what dead means?

fail to post , went up in smoke etc etc

red/green artifacts on posting.
Not recognised in Windows and stuck at a 640x480 resolution
If I try reinstalling nvidia drivers, i get the above artifcats, and still stuck at 640x480 with the card not recognised on reboot.

I had 2 x Inno3D GTX 980 Ti die within 6 weeks of each other. OCUK were great they sent me an MSI GTX 980 Ti 6G which has been great & still going strong 7 months since the last failure.

Some Nvidia partners push the cards too far IMO I would rather have a slower clocking stock card like an MSI which is reliable than something which is already tweaked & likely to be under a lot more stress.

That's good to hear :) and hopefully I will do something similar. As I don't game that often Id rather a few less mhz and a more reliable card.

Not the case sorry, I regularly monitor the temps in my system. And the gfx card rarely hits 50c, 90% of its time its at 35c because i'm not gaming.

You ever checked your power supply? or tried the card in another computer before rma-ing

to have 2 in 6 months do the same thing seems a bit weird.

The fault this time isn't exactly the same thing.
The first time around I just couldn't get any output.
This time I can, but it's not right as explained above.
At the time the first one broke, I did try a different PSU, but that didn't solve it.
The PSU is a Gold rated XFX 750, also bought at the same time the gfx card was bought.

The card was tried with different ram, motherboard, cpu and psu before RMA'ing.
Honestly, I just think these cards have poor quality control, and/or they are being pushed beyond their capabilities.
Strangely when looking at the reviews of this card on OcUK's very site, the first post is from someone saying they are on their 3rd one also.

I'm still on my first one here. No complaints in almost 6 months of use in CS:GO and GTA. I haven't clocked it yet but I'm in a very well ventilated case.
