Favorite movie soundtrack?

anything - Trent Reznor
anything - Clint Mansell
The Blues Brothers
Especially
Phantom Menace - John Williams
Jaws - John Williams
Close Encounter - John Williams
and virtually everything else - John Williams
Especially - the thing - Ennio Morricone
The Good the bad and the ugly - Ennio Morricone
and anything else - Ennio Morricone
anything - John Carpenter

Nothing by Hans Zimmer - overblown like a composer who's listened to classic soundtracks but doesn't understand the subtlety that made them great.

wow, nothing by Hans Zimmer?

Yeah sorry to say that too, I know he is well loved. I found his work on Pirates of the Caribbean especially intrusive/overblown.

Around the time of Gladiator (arguably his best) Danny Elfman was making a far better soundtrack for planet of the apes (shame about the movie).

Still to each their own.

I'm not sure I've got a favorite per say but Drive did have a decent soundtrack, whole load of tracks by Cliff Martinez

as the OP mentioned 90s then Cruel Intentions is worth a mention, quite a few British artists on the soundtrack: Blur, the Verve, Placebo, Skunk Anansie, Fatboy Slim, Faithless
