Unfortunately, same as the incident here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18713560, the faulty stand-off has also happened to my Titan X waterblock.

However, unlike the situation being resolved smoothly as recorded in the linked thread, Igor decided to say that this will only happen in the event of excessive force being applied to the stand-off, which is clearly not the case.

Hence I'd like to bring this to EK Luc's attention to see if that can clear anything up.

Thanks for the attention.

Igor need's a lesson on customer service. He was completely unhelpful when I had to deal with him about a leaking block that was less than a year old. It's everyones fault but EK according to him. Hopefully EK Luc can help you out.

Honestly Igor did help me out in various occasions and I have to say I have been more than happy with his service until that, however there seems to be some discrepancy in how he react to individual cases.

Hi,

Did he at least offer you a replacement standoff or something or simply said that it was the customer's fault?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

He decided to say this is my fault for applying excessive force and require me to pay for the international shipping for the replacement stand-offs or have me to ship the block back to the EK HQ.

Ok so, at least, he offered you something. About the shipping payment, is it expensive? I don't know if the member that you're referring to in your original post had to pay for it's shipping

Sorry for the hijack but are you able to get the broken standoff out?

I'm sure Luc can sort you out. The international shipping from EK for a single standoff alone will be pretty inexpensive if not.

Well when I ordered 10x 15mm hex screws and a 117mm o-ring the cheapest was about £5 via ems untracked, guess what it never arrived. After beint told to wait about a month for delivery I gave up, won't ever bother again and waste my money, all be it only £9 in total.

Just to chime in with my experience here, I've personally had a number of issues with EK GPU blocks in regards to the stand offs, one of my Titan X blocks came with 2 of the stand offs loose and sheared in the sealed bag and I had another Titan X block that had 3 busted stand offs which when I attempted to place the screw in, just spun in place.

I've had issues previously with a GTX 780 Lightning Waterblock where one of the stand offs sheared off and was recessed into the block, there was absolutely no way for me to remove it unless I resorted to drilling it out. I've also had a Regular GTX 780 block with just one of the stands that spins in place and I've had a 780Ti KingPin Edition block that had a stand off completely missing. You can rest assured that I'm not wrenching down on the screws like a pleb, it's just shoddy quality from my experience.

I've currently got 3 blocks on the go, 2x Titan X and 1x 980 Ti and I've taken apart the Titan X blocks 4 times each and the 980 Ti 3 times for rebuilds/cleaning and they have held up fine. It seems to be quite hit and miss from my experience, I think there is a quality control issue or a definite improvement that can be made on this aspect of their blocks.
