KFA2 980Ti HoF Dies again

Well as expected OcUK seems to have this under control.
I spoke to them and they said they could swap it for a Strix.
Upon checking that card is £40 cheaper than mine, I'm thinking about asking for a Amp Extreme instead..anyone have any opinions on this?
Not that I have anything against the Strix, it's just that I have built a completely white/black system and red would just look terrible in there.

previous generations were different but for the 980ti the gigabyte windforce is worth a look not much in it between that and a hof on air.

Its worth asking, if your going for a white build a red card would seem odd, if all else fails get out the spray paint :)

My HOF died in a similar way a few days ago and is currently going through RMA. Happens to all cards but I regret not getting a MSI gaming tbh. I hope I don't go through this again 6 months from now.

That's good to hear :) and hopefully I will do something similar. As I don't game that often Id rather a few less mhz and a more reliable card.
Go for an AIO or a hybrid GPU which includes the AIO. This takes temps down about 50% so that makes the cards last longer IMO. Mine has ran flawlessly for over 7 months with high ambient air temps due to the central heating being on a lot. The GTX 980 Ti runs very hot when pushed @ 4K ;)
I would go for the MSI then buy some AIO kit to go with it as MSI warranty is still intact if you fit an AIO. OCUK do not have any AIO GPU's in stock right now:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...hics-card-gtx-980-ti-gaming-6g-gx-287-ms.html

All you need is:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/nzxt-kraken-g10-gpu-cooling-adapter-red-hs-006-nx.html

Then something like a H55 to fit the Kraken:
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/corsair-hydro-h55-quiet-liquid-cpu-cooler-hs-013-cs.html

Temps will be around 50-55 % lower than the stock MSI HSF so if your into ocing you have a lot of headroom. Even your dear old aunt/mum/granny could fit the Kraken + H55 its that easy ;) you may need to buy 1 extra fan for push/pull but that's easy to add afterwards!

Those AIO's will provide great temperatures for sure, at the expense of noise.

At idle, they are (IMO) very loud, whereas with air coolers the fans turn off at idle. I can't stand pump noise at idle, when working or watching a movie etc. Completely off-putting for me.

Mine is 100% silent & I sit 1ft away from the beast on my desktop! I use Zalman fan controllers to control the noise though.

Not that I have anything against the Strix, it's just that I have built a completely white/black system and red would just look terrible in there.

a few people who had the AMP extreme complained of the fans revving up and down even on idle - not a huge issue for most but some did find it annoying, not sure if you could just solve that with a custom fan curve anyway

It seems the replacement has to be exactly the same price as my card (not allowed to pay extra towards it)
So that limited me to one card.
Zotac AMP Omega.
I also suggested the EVGA Superclocked+
Anyways, I posted it back today.
Hopefully I'll get some news tomorrow/Thurs.

I had a dud 980ti HOF also and swapped it for an amp extreme. Its a crazy fast card that never goes over 60c on full load. It does suffer from the fans ramping up and down however, so if noise is an issue for you then I wouldn't take the risk with the extreme as it is quite common. I can over look this however as it clocks to 1560 and I just turn up the volume!

Great service from OcUK as we have all come to expect.
Sent my HoF back on Wednesday, arrived at OcUK Thursday.
Got my Zotac Amp today.
Very happy, and it's why I'll always recommend OcUK :D
