Home poker tournament - advice needed.

Your mates will have 100% already arranged a stripper/hooker to come to the house. Possibly a transgender one.

5000

I would've done the same but had the values at 25, 50, 100, 250, 500. Why would you dish out less 500s than 1000s rottster?

We go:
10
20
50
100
200

Deal in with approx 2000 each. Playing Texas Hold em, no limit.

Start with blinds at 10/20, escalate every 15 minutes (20/40, 30/60, 50/100, 100/200...). Usually fit in two or three games in an evening.

because you never really use multiple 500s but do use multiple 1000s

50 and 250 do not really exist as poker chip values :)

If the chips aren't marked, it's so much easier to treat them all as 1 and adjust blinds accordingly.

1/2
2/4
4/8 etc

that won't make for a good structure , if he gives everyone 150 chips you are at a sub 20bb average on level 3

Ok I think I have sorted the game structure out. if these seems rubbish please tell me and offer more advice.:)

I have been reading up on it and taken advice from you guys but I am still unsure what quantity of chips to give each player. I am looking for no more than 4 hours play as per Blinds Schedule above. If I dish out 1000 each player, to me it does not seem enough, it is my first time hosting a game by the way.:p

Can any of you suggest a new distribution of chips using this image below?

The Blinds Schedule and Chip value sheet are printed on A4 and will be stuck to a wall in the game room so everyone can see them. I have a timer on my PC and my phone in case the PC is used during the evening.

Now regarding the chip value, do I keep these the same through all levels till the end or would you suggest to increase them, say, every 4th level. Eg:

L 1-3 White 25 Red 100 as per poster above
L 4-6 White 100 Red 500
L 7-9 White 300 Red ??? etc

It is all a little daunting right now. Hard day at work and trying to get this organised so I can set up the table etc over next few days in readiness of the big game.

So how many chips and what are they worth?
Do I increase the chip value as the blinds increase in a set amount of levels?
Over to you guys:D

What do you mean by that?

you could colour up/remove low denomination chips from the table then later reintroduce say white chips as a higher denomination in order to keep stack sizes smaller/manageable

but if you mean arbitrarily assign a new value to existing chips in play then wtf? why would you do that?

because you never really use multiple 500s but do use multiple 1000s

I only really play online/home tourneys. I think I've played one casino tourney (and placed, I should go again really) so I'll bow to your experience :)

what do you mean by make them higher in value though? Can you explain the process by which you'd make that happen?

do you mean literally just stating that they're now X value instead of Y?

Dowie. Yes I think thats what I mean. I read about it. As the game progresses the smaller chips become annoying so they get re-valued or coloured up as you mentioned.

So for example once we get to say level 7 where the small blind is 300 could the white be made into 100 to to cut down on the small change so to speak

this is quite confused - you can't just state the chips are now a different value - if you mean to do that then you're missing the point of colouring up, it doesn't result in people having (significantly)larger chip counts (aside from rounding up sometimes). you've already got a chip worth 100 so what would you achieve by making the white 100 too?

this is why I asked what you mean by it, to avoid confusion can you clarify how you're going about doing it?

If you look at my example in my post a bit ago I posted -

L 1-3 White 25 Red 100 as per poster above
L 4-6 White 100 Red 500
L 7-9 White 300 Red ??? etc

So all chips get bigger if you see what I mean? It was something I read about and I may have got the wrong end of the stick (as I am still new to this. I can play it but not organised a game before).
