Are the high dps builds 3/400K plus , resultant from some kind of buff? Or, is that the static dps figure? Only reason I ask is because I can't seem to exceed the 250K mark unbufffed.
99% will be buffed (Striker's, Smart Cover, Pulse etc), 1% will be stacking useless **** like accuracy that artificially inflates paper DPS.
There's straight up no way to get close to 400 unbuffed. Even stacking Crit and using SMGs and Reckless I doubt much more than 300k is possible. I'm sitting at around 200k unbuffed but I'm not using an SMG-whore build - SMG is my secondary due to the dog**** range - if I switched to SMG main and changed a few stats around I can sit at 260k, but ultimately I'll be doing less damage.
To clarify on that last statement, my AK sits me at 201k and my Vector sits me at 194k - so very much negligible paper difference. However, due to the fact my AK has a significantly larger clip (from base clip size then % mod increase), larger range, more stable (combination of mods), more armour penetration (talent) and more headshot damage (from scope) it out-damages my vector by a significant amount in 99% of encounters. Using Pulse brings the Vector slightly past un-pulsed AK -- but pulsed AK is obviously more than un-pulsed AK
For comparison, my Vector's mods are all crit where possible except the magazine is Size + RoF as RoF is more important than crit chance or damage. Sidenote;
I don't know if the mag mod affects other people's vectors the same, but rate of fire actually helps stability on mine. Running any mag without RoF makes the instability much more noticable - but it only seems to do that with the vector (from what I've tested).
