MSI R9 280X Broken (2 years old) will MSI Accept a Return?

The card is bust. Every 30 minutes or so, the display disconnects and the only way to see the desktop again is with a restart.

I've tried the drivers, rebuild, another PC, and the same issue happens everywhere so it's 100% the card.

So my real question is - Even though the card is 2 years old, is there any consumer act in my favour, or generous warranty through MSI on offer?

I hear they are good for returns, but are they that good?

MSI have an RMA center in Netherlands I believe and the standard warranty is 3 years so you should be good. You might want to try and RMA the card via the the store you bought it from, it may take a bit longer but it would cheaper then shipping it to the Netherlands.

Thank you. Exactly what I was after.

Thankfully it was through ocuk, who've responded quickly to my webform and are away to start the RMA process.

I'll keep this updated as the process continues!

MSI were pretty good the one time I used their RMA service. Got the card back to me inside a couple of weeks and replaced the GTX 460 I sent in with a GTX 570. That was going directly through them, as the original retailer had folded.

OCUK were brilliant when my packed up. Got replacement within few days.

As has been said the MSI warranty is good from what I understand.

There is a method to working out the manufacture date based on the serial number, take a look at the warranty details on the MSI website to see when your card was manufactured to work out how much warranty remains.

Guys thanks for the info. I did some further tests again last night just to make sure it's 100% the card and yep - it still freezes my machine after an hour or so.

RMA return will be shipped on Monday so will hopefully just have to wait a couple weeks or so.
