The UK is to take in 3,000 more vulnerable child refugees from the war torn-Syria region by 2020.

The government called the move the "largest resettlement programme for children in the world".

It is in addition to UK prime minister David Cameron's pledge to take 20,000 refugees by 2020.

The scheme will not solely target unaccompanied children, but will also extend to vulnerable "children at risk", a spokesman said.

Immigration Minister James Brokenshire said: "We have always been clear that the vast majority of vulnerable children are better off remaining in host countries in the region so they can be reunited with surviving family members. However, there are exceptional circumstances in which it is in a child's best interests to be resettled in the UK.

"We have engaged with a number of NGOs, including the UNHCR on the best way to provide protection to refugee children and ensure their welfare and safety remain at the heart of every decision made."

So how is this going to be funded then on the back of huge cuts to public services?
 
I've heard a rumour from our local council that we can expect about 1500 of them to be rehomed in a town near me with a population currently of 8000. Oof!
 
Let`s guess they will all be re-homed in the North where Labour run councils are madly happy with it but they will have to close all the swimming pools to pay for all the new community centres.

Funnily enough it's a labour council in the north!
 
Its 3000 kids, it won't cost much at all in the grand scheme of things - though most importantly they're being picked directly from Syria rather than coming here at random among a bunch of other migrants from around the world in Calais

Yeah "Child Refugees", Just like the 20+ year olds who claim child refugee status when they land in Germany, Sweden etc... and it gets accepted.

Europe is digging it's own grave.
 
Heaven forbid we help innocent children from a war which was created by the west for the west.

You people make me sick. This is why we can never progress, because the uncaring and unloved only care for themselves!
