Moving to USA - Who's done it, what advice?

Right on red - physically stop before turning. I read something recently that certain cities are getting really hot on those now, including having right turn cameras to fine people that don't - good for all involved, except the person that thought they shouldn't have to stop.

They won't be specific right turn cameras, red light cameras will enforce the stop before turning right on red rule though.

They removed all the red light cameras from New Jersey last year

Well ok, yeah. They will be using the same cameras. The pint I was making is lots of places are becoming much hotter on rolling rights.:p

There's no legal requirement in the USA to give paid leave, but most people seem to get around 2 weeks. Any time you take off sick tends to come out of this allowance too.
This is mainly not true, probably used to be like this. Now days they are much better, not quite as generous as the UK, but my wife for instance gets about 25 days a year.
Sounds like you haven't been to America...

American beer is a lot better than a lot of the stuff in Europe (I'm not talking about Bud or Coors).
If you're in to craft beer, this place has exploded with them the past couple years. Unbelievable amount of choice, and that goes for the restaurants/bars as well. They all want to be different and have the edge, so supply unique beers as well as the classics. And honestly, Coors light etc are not that bad in the summer months when it's boiling hot and lounging round the pool ;)

I still roll and I think most people do.

You're not going to like the USA. Americans don't say "you're welcome" or "my pleasure" when you thank them. They say "uh huh". They are rude, have no culture, and think their importance in the world is directly related to their salary. They would rather buy a new truck than buy healthcare in case they need surgery or they have a heart attack, but most of them think that will never happen. American beer is crap, the police will shoot you for looking at them funny, especially if you're black. Punishments for crimes, even white collar crimes, are harsh. If you think chavs are bad in the UK you are in for a rude awakening when you meet the real thing in the USA. Think chavs with assault rifles. Make sure you really want to do this.

LOL, clearly never been to america have you.

He is only half wrong mind :P

I've ended up on the other end of a gun for the slightest thing - but then it is kind of understandable when a state trooper mistakenly thought I was breaking into somewhere at 5am in the morning.

I still roll and I think most people do.

Which is why I guess a lot of places are getting hotter on enforcing the law (where it applies). :p

Unfortunately I can't find the article I was reading a couple of months ago, but it causes quite a few accidents every year.

Ann Arbor has the highest number of bookshops per capita, if I remember rightly!

Once dated a lass from AA, Michigan. Wouldn't mind visiting there to be honest, make sure you get a spare room OP!

I visited Ann Arbor last October for a week while she was working there, it is just as lovely as it looks. Really really nice place.
