The Queen's 90th Birthday

I found it most concerning seeing a homeless man just a stones throw away from Buckingham Palace when last I went to London. Where is the help for the average man?

Riiight, so Washington DC for example has no homeless people because it houses a Republican government right. Monarchies eh

You are angry and annoyed at the Royal family because you lack the knowledge of who you should really be angry at. But hey, at least it makes you look cool huh.

I think Prince William made a good point the other night. He said something like, people had been calling him lazy because he flies rescue helicopters which isn't a real job.

A lot of people are angry with the Royal Family because they have no idea what they really do. I got the impression that William is bricking it because I don't think he really wants to serve like his Grandma does.

Who's trying to look cool? I am drawing a parallel between so much wealth and yet people with nothing cannot have a hand extended to them. I don't lack the knowledge thank you, do try to keep up.

Watched about 30seconds of a programme on BBC1 where some dude was near to orgasm reciting his story of meeting the Queen. Really? Someone maybe explain why anybody would get so excited about meeting some old biddy?

Well if you only watched 30 seconds then you wouldn't have heard his reasons why she was so important to him.
You fail, it took you longer to post than it would have took to hear what he said.

Ok my apologies it was longer than 30 seconds, but time is irrelevant, he didn't give an explanation. I asked someone to to explain why they would feel that way. You failed to post a reason, you simply posted to try an make light of my post. So you sir, fail.

And I'll repeat, you only watched 30 seconds +, if you had carried on watching people were giving their reasons. Some of them sounded daft to me but they were still giving their reasons.
eg One 90 year old woman explained she was born at the same time, went into the air raid shelters at the same time, went into the military at the same time, got married around the same time so always felt a bond and then she met her and it helped to close a chapter in her life.
The rantings of a mad woman but hey ho.

Thank you for a more informed response. I should probably add I am not anti monarchy. I just don't understand how some people get so emotional about meeting someone who has for all intents and purposes had zero direct affect on their lives.

She's done a lot more than all those countless celebrities who get the same sort adoration.

You don't know that, it's a massive assumption.

so did you help him?

or where you simply "most concerned" then carried on your way?

I don't think whether or not he offered immediate insistence negates his point at all.

I've volunteered at homeless shelters and various homeless charities but I've still had to walk past hundreds of homeless people without offering assistance because of time constraints, restriction of resources or prior commitments. It doesn't mean I can't be concerned about them nor does it mean I shouldn't be able to comment on their plight and or the societal issues surrounding them.

Bought him a coffee and a pasty as I often do when I see homeless people. Its a bit like when I went to Manchester before Xmas, there had been a massive rise. I usually see 4 maybe 5, but when I went there were that many before you get to the mini park area where there were groups sleeping rough so because with work I go twice I made up a fair few sandwiches for them and when I went later that week handed them out.

I think someone should organize for the homeless population of London to go and sleep in the square mile just to see what happens

Well if anything, the Royal family would be more likely to do something rather than if they sat in Canary wharf or outside a government building. Which was my point earlier, why do you hate the royals so much when there are far worse people who have probably had a substantially worse effect on poverty than the Royal family has. You lack the knowledge of who is actually to blame (we all do to an extent) so hate on the fashionable people to blame, the Royals. In comparison to similarly wealthy family/businesses, the royal family does a great deal more for charity etc than any other. So why??

Because it's cool to be angsty and reject authority(not like there is any authority there anyway!). We should also detest anyone who has it better than us, that is also cool.

There are far worse to blame as I already know. The Queen is part of that system. What brasses me off is the lickspittle on here. I think you are overlooking vast swathes of history that the Royal Family oversee.

You think the Queen is better than me troll? If wealth were a measure and the wealth being ill gotten that would be so

Not in this city

you realise that a LOT of homeless people have serious serious issues right?

forgoing the fact that their general nature precludes "organising" them. a large gathering of them will certainly end in violence as they try to rob and assault each other.
