Surprised no thread about this and a bit late to the party but tomorrow is Alien Day!

UK Cinemas are showing the Alien and Aliens Directors Cut Double Bill tomorrow so "Lets Rock!"

(For those not in the know, LV426 is the name of planet the movies are set on, tomorrow is 4/26 in US date format, aka 26/04/2016)

It seems there is also a selection of merchandise being released also to celebrate Alien Day, such as the retro sci-fi style Reebok boots!

I much prefer the Theatrical cut of Aliens, I think the bit at the start where you see the colony totally spoils the tension.

Although the sentry guns are good they also spoil the tension of the scene after that.

Ripley's daughter I am undecided. It makes her maternal feelings for Newt more understandable, but I just don't imagine Ripley has a daughter based on the first film.

The Ellen / Dwaine moment is a bit cheesy.

Hutson's extended weapons description is also a bit over the top.

My local Cineworld isn't showing it :(

They can take my money, i'll be ordering the Aliens lootcrate, it's the sequel to my favorite movie of all time.

I think the extended version makes a lot more sense to the story. I also quite like seeing more of Aliens.

In Alien you see 1000's of alien eggs. In Aliens they say 50/60 families. So estimate 60 x 2 adults, 120, plus kids about 200 people maybe more. However when the Aliens come through the ceiling and attack you don't see them and when Ripley goes to the Queen to rescue Newt you only see a few guards. Where did all the Aliens go ?

The sentry guns now make a lot more sense as to why they were not completely overun by Aliens. Not saying its an exact reason but more plausible now.

There would have even been a lot less Aliens that there was in the movie but I nicked one of the sentry guns.

I have to agree this makes a lot of sense, but it spoils the surprise compared to the roof lifting moment in the theatrical version. I am certain this is why it was taken out.
 
Might be mos-remembering the piece of information in a magazine from years ago but apparently in the whole of the Aliens film, there are only ever 3 guys in Alien suits.

However i'm sure when they do lift the lowered ceiling, you can see 4/5.
 
Are we going to have everyday marked when a then future date arrives? Was pretty cool and unique for Back to the Future last year but as a one off. Another Social Media overkill.

I still love Alien and Aliens.. Can't be ****** with 3 onwards.
 
Would have loved to go to my local Cineworld to see these last night but not on a school night :(

I always assumed the majority of them were mostly still over in the main complex (mostly) because Bishop flew Ripley and Hicks over in the remote dropship to find Newt and it would take some time for the Aliens to make their way back to the nest - longer than they had before the reactor blew perhaps, which I think was only 21 minutes...

P.S. not a geek ;)

[edit] mind you the Alien that captured Newt had plenty of time to get back there and cocoon her so... bah, plot holes in the best film ever made boooo :( [/edit]
