Ten Good Natured Driving Irritations

I find taxi drivers either drive like their trousers are on fire, or dawdle about because they can't navigate their way out of a paper bag and are fiddling with their phone/sat nav to take someone 10 mins away.

Taxi drivers.

They all drive like *****.

The worst is when they just whack their hazards on in the middle of the road because they want to stop to pick up/drop off a fare. They should make it illegal to use your hazards in this fashion.

Agreed. The attitude is "if I put my hazards on, its no problem for me to create a queue of traffic by stopping in the middle of the road leaving no room to go round without waiting for a gap in oncoming traffic".

1: When you're waiting behind another vehicle at a junction/roundabout and you can see it's clear for them to go but they are looking downwards (no prizes for guessing what they're doing). They then look at you in their RVM and go blasting off up to 15mph over the limit as if that somehow compensates for their muppetry.

2: Fog lights !! There might be a few wisps of mist around but I can see for a mile in front of you so why are you trying to burn my retinas out ?

3: See where you turn front fog lights. - Stupid Stupid Stupid development. Your attention is diverted from their indicator to the single left foglight and then they drive straight on. eg: Pulled off J24 M5 and wait at roundabout at bottom of hill. Car comes out of services to my right but left hand foglight is on which gives the impression they are turning left.

4: Adaptable Cruise Control. You pull out to overtake a line of vehicles and as you get to the front one the moron speeds up along with all the following vehicles.

I was always taught that if you're approaching a green light that has been green for a while, you should anticipate it changing.

Quite right, you are to anticipate it changing. That means being prepared to slow down for the red and perhaps not accelerating towards it, not braking and shedding speed on the off chance that it does change for literally no reason.

Overtaking someone going slowly on a nsl single carriage way, only for them to decide to boot it when you're along side.

Was over taking a C Merc in my little kia rio a few years ago, road was 60...merc infront doing 35-40. Oncoming traffic was a good distance away so start making pace and begin the over take. As soon as I'm door to door they match my acceleration (easier in a 2.0tdi opposed to my little 1.5 crdi :p ) and just kept with me, looked back and the car had closed the gap so I kept pushing on to only just pull in before the oncoming traffic,..... Which happened to be a police Van who flash his lights (head lights) at me.

I was so ****** off with that ****. Dunno if they were just ignorant and didn't know I was over taking as probably on their phone or deliberately being a ****.

I really don't get people like that

I once had a similar situation, someone going 35 in a 60, I overtook them after being stuck behind them for about 5 minutes. As soon as I overtake him, he sped up and sat right on my bumper, gesturing at me then kept looking for places to overtake me.

Strange that he suddenly found his accelerator...

People who try to overtake me on the left when lanes are closing on my Bike right before a set of lights. Why? The bike will out accelerate pretty much any car.

People who 'Wave' around in their lane. Focus man! The worst is when they randomly cut you up for not reason other than to be a dick.

People who don't understand how NSL signs work.

People who tailgate like savages.

People who think they are the best drivers in the world because they drive a A3, A4.

People who don't indicate

People who have no idea what to do when they see an emergency vehicle.

Such People, Much stupid, Such wow.

Slow drivers way too slow or those that does 40mph everywhere.

They should take hint when there are not only a convoy behind them but one of them happens to be an articulated lorry, a bus and a caravan.

Because the person had the brain power of a baked potato and 35mph was the absolute maximum and anyone going above that is a mental.

Another one I was reminded of on my drive home:

People who join the motorway and must, must, MUST be in the outside lane straight away. Doesn't matter if the road is completely empty, doesn't matter if it's heavy traffic and that lane is going slower than all of the others, doesn't matter if they have to stop the other 2 lanes of traffic as they force their way across, they just NEED to be in that lane!

Lorries overtaking each other, specifically during rush hour or in other periods of heavy traffic. It's evidently bad enough without two morons going precisely 0.01mph faster than the other taking 3 miles to overtake, only for the other moron to then go and overtake the first moron about 5 more miles down the road. Just sit in the draft enjoying less buffeting and better fuel economy.

When the council turns a 30 limit into a 20 limit for no reason. Sometimes, you get stuck behind someone actually obeying the new speed limit.

Short little chav boys in their pathetic Corsa's... everything about them is small and they know it, so they have to compensate by driving like a twerp.

... And everything else above

People that do any other speed other than the speed limit (which is seemingly 90% of the drivers on the road)

People who have no idea what to do when they see an emergency vehicle.

Had an interesting one earlier today in the middle of Rochester. The urban A-Road (A2) I was on has cars parked all on the left side and a constant flow of traffic coming the other way so there's not much space. There is a Micra infront of me driven by a 60-ish lady when about 300m behind me an Ambulance pulls out with it's lights and sirens going.

I start to look for somewhere to pull over an see a large garage forecourt about 1/4 of a mile away so I plan to pull over there, only for the dozy old twonk in the Micra to stop dead in the road blocking the lane entirely.

The ambulance arrives 15-20 seconds later and can't get past the OAP roadblock for a further 10+ seconds until the oncoming traffic all pulls over to make space for him to drive on their side of the road past the Micra. When the woman then drives off and pulls into the garage, I very nearly rage quit all over her!

People who do exactly 1mph under the speed limit everywhere, you know the type, from NSL to 30mph is comming up so instead of just letting the car slow down through friction, they slam the brakes on to get down to 29mph exactly.
