I finally got scammed on eBay

A guy bought a chair on ebay off me for £10 and he paid by Paypal and then came to collect it and tried to give me another £10 cash but as i'm honest I had to remind him that he had already paid!

Using eBay is basically like walking in to a dark shady pub full of Del Boys, Stephen Hawkings, Susan Boyles and one honest businessman and saying "ANYONE WANNA BUY A WATCH?"

12 years on the bay

600 feedbacks

all has been well.

"One problem later..."

I think I may call it a day on the bay

Do you not think you're overreacting, just a little bit?

People love to hate on eBay but the reality is, the majority of the time it works well for all parties involved. Common sense and a bit of seller protection is required to safeguard yourself, and even with the best will in the world it's never 100% risk free, but the fact you've not even had 1% of problems on eBay thus far surely speaks volumes.

This was unlucky, but alarm bells would have been ringing with me for abroad purchases. Again, I know there are scum in this country too, but it's just another step in the safeguarding direction.

Oh, and the best piece of advice is to not sell what you can't afford to lose. (I'm not suggesting what you can or can't afford to lose, BTW).

Surely if you have proof of the watch working before sending then you should be able to claim on postal insurance?

Or is that too logical for it to actually work and expect these days?

Just for clarification my pictures show the second and and minute hand have moved between shots

Not exactly cctv time coded proof but at least shows I was honest
