If the position is for a medical Dr or a science professor at a prestigious university bow ties will be fine otherwise nope.
 
No, a tie is a tie, a bow tie is a bow tie. One is professional, the other makes you look like you're a croupier.
 
Not something I would wear for myself but if you have the charisma and gravitas too pull it off then go for it.
 
I think a bow tie is a legit choice.

Any employer who rules you out for wearing one is probably not your ideal employer anyway and, as mentioned, such things help you to stand out.

It's probably a bad choice if you generally come across as being a bit weird, though. Better to try to tone that stuff down a bit, in that instance.
 
I think if you are the kind of person who wears a bow tie regularly then you probably don't care what people think. The fact that you are asking means there is a element of doubt in your mind, so you are not the kind of person I just mentioned.
