Bit of a random query but I went out to the garage to get petrol just now and noticed a small van completely empty bar a garden mower in the back. Front door of a house wide open with all the lights off.

Operator gave the impression I was wasting her time. Obviously if it was day time I'd agree but 3.30ish in the morning makes it rather suspect doesn't it? :confused:

Would you bother reporting such a thing to the police?
 
Your night time petrol drinking habit is suspicious yes.
Did you take the numberplate. At least you can have a "I told you so" in the morning.

Time of day doesn't affect my habit :(. Got an old friend who works morning shift so I get 5p off a litre and we all know you get more petrol when it's colder :D.


Yeah I got the number plate. Kinda sad I won't get to know if I interrupted some entrepreneurs or not.
 
I phoned the non-emergency number once when a girl who lived up the road's front door was wide open/lights off at around 3am as I really didn't want to A: Scare the living **** out of her and B: Be fitted up on some spurious charges if she was dead and raped in there...

Phoned them up, explained that she was a woman living on her own and I didn't want to alarm her if she was there and I did not feel comfortable about entering the place etc. The Controller on the phone was fine about it and around 15mins later a Police car pulled up and 'Investigated', she had come home very drunk and left the door wide open. Better safe than sorry as far as I was concerned and I'm sure the Plod was of the same opinion.

Who keeps their lawn mower in their house? :p

I'd have probably hung around to see what was going on before calling it in, can't go wrong with a bit of snooping at 3:30am with a tank full of petrol.
 
I would have called, called when I came home from a club (I was a bit drunk too) but found someone taking the wheels off a Porsche turns out it was the owner but still really odd at 4am...
