Hate mendes, hate that naturally everyone we go for costs a ridiculous amount. Need to work on our scouting network, don't see other teams ploughing this much into relatively unknown talent, martial has turned out well but for him there'll be another bunch of Anderson, nani, depay and the likes

Not to say he's past it at any point, however the French league is a complete stroll for a team like PSG and has made him look fantastic again (which he is). However, will he live up to the hype in the EPL? I honestly don't think he will. He'll still be a great asset for any team though.

he'd get smashed in the EPL. French league is like SPL 1 or 2 decent teams and the rest is just filler

Exactly what Im worried about - not only the comparative skill levels but at his age in a much more physically demanding league, one injury could wipe him out for a huge chunk of his contract.

Wouldnt touch him for anything like Rooney money (300k/week if reports are to be believed) - let alone the astronomical figures being bandied about as he would be coming on a "free".

Would much rather go for someone who's mid 20's and therefore got a decent amount of experience either here or Germany/ Spain and we can get the best out of even if they cost a significant transfer fee.

Nani was the antithesis of ok? He was either fantastic or awful. And he had one season where he was unreal.

And even in that "unreal" season he took about 500 times as many shots as every other player put together (and majority missed by a mile) - he always seemed to think he was hugely better than he actually was. Fair enough to have an ego like that if its deserved, it just wasnt in this case

Not completely decided on Depay, very disappointing season for him - never expected it to have gone this badly for him (a few rumours his mind is writing cheques his body cant cash, misquoted on purpose too (:

A fee for Danny Ings was finally decided today. We have to pay £6.5m + another £1.5m depending on appearances. Iirc last week a few reports claimed we were offering something like £6m and Burnley wanted £10m - looks like the tribunal just said meet in the middle :/

Unlikely to mean much but dont forget about the 20% of any sale value (bbc didnt define whether it was only on top of that 8m figure or whether it was 20% of any sale, Im guessing the former)

Im slightly surprised it was so much - but given the money flowing in EPL at the end of this season I suppose it isnt that surprising (ie I guess if Liverpool had needed him at the same level but for instance 2 years earlier, it would have been a fraction of that £8m)

Can someone explain why they had to pay anything at all?

What's the point of the Bosman rule if you just have to pay a fee anyway?

If a player Under 24 is moving in England (or is it just English players?) then they have to pay a training fee as compensation to the club to represent the lost investment, It feels like a good thing to me.

I think Utd have paid compensation on a few Euro transfers in the last year or so if my memory serves but I might be wrong

Its 20% of any profit though not sale.

Its a good deal.

Am I the only one who would still keep Rooney? I mean he's had a poor season but then again so has the whole team.
