There's a voice that keeps on calling me.
Hi Guys n Gals,

I fancy a trip down to Central London with the kids, i havent been down in years, ive only ever been on the train with work. But im wondering if its worth pre booking or winging it. Im planning on going down tomorrow as the weather should be good and my girls are off nursery. Im planning to hyde park/bucks palace/big ben etc etc.

Where would be good to park, that wont cripple me financially!?

everything central will be expensive, qpark maybe in park lane? should be able to book a spot but it'll be like £20ish.

I used a company where you rent out someone's driveway for the day.

Think it was called Justpark. Was all done online and was painless.

Oh I expect to have to pay a fair bit, im going tomorrow, in the hope that it may not be as busy as a weekend, and then more chance of parking around hyde park.

Tower Hill parking is very cheap for the weekend, it's not really central but if you can make it work it's worth it.

I actually parked here for 3 days the other week. I rarely drive into London, this was maybe the first time in 4 years but I think the bill came to 74 quid. I was staying at the Apex off Seethings Lane so this was just across the road. Large, safe, good spaces and relative value.

Last time i went to london we were staying in Hammersmith, during the day we used King's Mall car park then jumped on the Tube to go into central, think it cost us £9 so pretty good, and it was fairly secure.

Drive in to Stratford and park at the westfield shopping centre there.

Maximum you'll pay is £9.50 on a weekend or £6.50 on a weekday. Then you can get around London on the tube.

We will be travelling with a pram, will that be OK on the tube, at the moment I'm thinking of using a car park near chasing cross for a few hours and then somewhere near Hyde Park for the rest of the day, if I can do it all for £30 ish I'll be happy.

You can pre-book the Bloomsbury Sq car park (WC1A 2RJ) for £21.50 for 8-24 hours. That will put you in close proximity to Covent Garden, Oxford Street etc.

Coming to in from the west I generally go to Q park just north of Queensway station or somewhere on the street on gloucester terrace (5 min walk to Paddington)
Parkopedia is your friend.

Drove up to London for the first time weekend just gone, found Justpark a very useful website.

You've had some good suggestions though so might not be so useful for you!

Are you happy parking further out and getting the tube into the city then back out at the end of the day? A pram is fine on the tube off-peak, a bit of a struggle during busy times though.

I know of a cheap carpark Near Old Street which is on the northern line that i sometimes use. Though i tend to park in Mill-Hill or High-Barnet and tube it the rest of the way if it's a leisure trip.
