Anyone know anything about electric outboard setups?

I know I should be posting this in 'on the water' but I can't find it:p

I have a little walker bay dinghy (8 foot jobbie) which I use mostly for taking the dogs out and so on, although it can also be sailed or rowed. I want to get an electric outboard for it but don't know what power rating is necessary. They rate them in lbs or ft/lbs.

Anyone know what is useful for 5-6 knots max with up to 3 passengers and an 8 foot boat?

Also can I set up an automatic bilge to the leisure battery easily enough?

I'd be amazed if you could find one to provide that speed and under that load.

The one we have (endura kota) is for emergencies only and it's just about good enough to move me on a two seat inflatable. They have rubbish low thrust/rpm props and are a quarter of the price of petrol outboards for a reason.

If you want 6 knots, 3 people in an 8 foot boat you will need a 4-6hp two stroke outboard

Thinking about it no need for 5 or 6 would be happy with less. It's literally for heading over the other side of the river (where there is a good dog walk). I have a 4 stroke 2.3hp which pushes this little boat nicely but due to me thinking I was mechanically competent, it is currently broken. Top revs on that are a waste as the boat handles horribly with them. Doesn't need to be as quick as that but does need to be able to potter with 2 jack Russell's, 2 under 8s and 80kg of pure man. Trolling speed really
