agreed. I really like sporty toyotas, but they stooped making cars that interest me in the early 2000's. Why they think this niche is better than a cabrio or turbo'ed version i don't know. They must look at people buying ugly hatch backs on mass and think that's where they should be focusing their efforts.

My thoughts exactly, the GT86 looks like its been squashed at the back though - looks from that angle like the back has been mixed with a Nissan Juke.

Except The scimitar actually looks quite good (don't tell my Dad) and has good proportions especially when lowered like that!

Indeed, you can actually get adult humans in the back, but if you also have adult humans in the front then "cramped" is the perfect word I'd use to describe them. If I'm driving, the car is at best a 3 seater as mine has to be all the way back (unless you like kangaroo gear shifts 
).
Interestingly, someone on PH has bumped the thread from a couple of years ago when this idea was first rumoured, and a lot of people expressed interest, saying they like the idea of a GT86, but more practical. However, the concept shots back then actually looked pretty good, whereas the real car hasn't really pulled it off quite as well:

It's not going to happen anyway. One of the biggest criticisms of the GT86 is that it's outperformed by most modern hot hatches, so the main reason to own one was that you didn't want a hatchback.
So if you did want a hatchback, then you probably wouldn't be looking at a GT86 anyway (aforementioned PH posters aside).
