If you spotted your idol, would you go up to them?

That woman in the Cristiano vid with the orange top who started getting all her friends wanting a photo would have got a slap off me.

Well my Idol,Arnold Schwarzenegger,Doubt il be seeing him anytime soon around my area lol but even so id just say Hello Arnold nice to see you,And be done..people pester him too much.

I've seen Joey Essex before at a local supermarket,He was promoting something with a load of squeaky teenage girls surrounding him...he looks so plastic though,A real pretty boy. :D
Helped me out as kept the tills free with everyone wondering what was going on up there,Straight through the check out.

Sure. But you have to read their body language and respect their right to privacy. Even celebrities want to blend into the crowd sometimes. If they're signalling to the tune of "please, please go away; i'm not really here", then you should probably consider not making a big deal of it and move on.

I don't have idols but I do have people I really respect.
One such person at the top of the tree is Robert Plant and he was standing in the audience with Glen Hughes at one of my gigs.
I wanted to go over after the gig but he came to me, what a nice bloke.

I don't have an idol as such, but there's quite a few people I'd be delighted to meet. I wouldn't just go up to any of them on spotting them, though. I suspect that fame can be a real pain, being pestered all the time. I'd rather leave them in peace.

'Ooo look at me, I met Ronaldo today!'

Reminds me of when a relative showed me a photo of her and Alan Shearer a few years back.

I didn't think much to it. He looked pretty grumpy and as it was at the airport he probably just wanted to get home.

I don't have idols, just a few people I would like to meet. I don't think I'd disturb anyone when just randomly out though.

Well I have been lucky as a young lad to speak with both Gilles Villeneuve and Ayrton Da Silva (aka Senna)

That's really awesome!

I've met John Frusciante. He's not all that.

Lies.

A work colleague of mine ran into him a while back (lives moments from RP's favourite pub) and approached him to say hi etc and RP went apoplectic and told him to bugger off for bothering him.

Glad you caught him on a good day!

I saw Robert plant pop into my local shop and was just struck dumb,he had a great pair of snakeskin boots on,he was after a specific type of Indian tea

I was kicking myself later that I didn't speak to him or snap a pic

Depends on the scenario, if I saw Valentino Rossi at an event then yeah sure, definitely. But if I saw him and his Mrs in public walking around a London shop, no, no I would not.

Isn't fame a weird thing? Nobody cares about you when you're an unknown or before fame. Reminds me of Daniel Ricciardo before he started winning. Nobody batted an eye in the paddock.
Once he started winning, it was like that Ronaldo video as well as endless autographs.

Then your career perhaps slumps, people jump on the has been bandwagon. Or, they die. Everyone says he\she was the best at whatever they were, next move on. Reminds me of Bowie, everyone was saying he was the best, ever! Then Prince dies, he was the best, ever!

Or Lewis Hamilton for example. Every F1 race he says this is the best circuit on the calendar. Next!

Everything is just a flash in the pan and most of the time most people have forgotten as the weeks/months and years pass. Oh I remember that now!

Not quite my idol but I've bumped into Janick Gers out of Iron Maiden 3 times. Once in a fish and chip shop, once at the bar in a pub and once in Greggs believe it or not. He seems a decent fella, quite chatty.
