so just when all speculation was to be brought to a close, I thought I'd start a topic on these 2, what do you think the standard card and founder edition could be? could they both be reference cards but the more expensive comes with some goodies or a beefed up pcb? highly unlikely though as I doubt they would create 2 "reference" pcbs for one card... also they stated only the founder edition will be released on 27th May with no indication of the 'normal card' and it's also believed that you can only buy this special card through Nvidia.com which is a bit meh due to importing and that....
discuss below interested so see peoples thoughts :)

The Founders edition is a but like what AMD did with the Nanano, these are hand selecte chips that are known to perform better and bet better clocks and power charcisterictics. That allowed the nano to be more efficient that the FuryX, especially when down clocked that much. With the 1080 FE, nvidia are selecting chips that clock higher I think.

Founders edition is just with that fancy looking cooler they showed off in the event. Thats it afaik. Thats what ull be paying for. I highly doubt it will be for hand picked chips etc.

Non founder ones will be all 3rd party so asus etc with their own coolers.

I am thinking that the founder edition is the one they are clocking to 2.1Ghz...the hand picked chip version. I don't think you will get those clocks out of the standard version even though they will still be fast.

Thats what i got from all this anyway.

:)

"The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 launches on 27th May in both reference variants for $599 US and founders edition for $699 US. Expect custom models to be unveiled at Computex 2016 from various NVIDIA partners."
According to WCCFTECH the founders edition is different from reference? if these guys are right you could be right in saying that they're cherry picked Gpus as if the stock 1080 boosts to around 1700mhz mark lets say 1702, then 2100 put's it at a +400mhz core clock but then that's only a 25% overclock guess we'll have to wait and see :D

The blurb on the NVIDIA site for the 1080 makes no mention of founder edition. The 1080 has vapor chamber cooling.

Yeah I think I would pay more 'not' to have the founders edition :p

I'm waiting for the EVGA FTW+ GTX 1070 (+ Backplate)

Come to me my pretty ! :D

When you pay for a Founder Edition, someone at Nvidia HQ points at a screen and says "Look, John, we've founder nother one!"

will be signed by René Auberjonois.

imo, I think, have a feeling etc.

Yeah i was mistaken about it just being about the cooler cos zotac will be shipping their 1080 with the same cooler so.. Maybe it will be true that it has some sort of cherry picking going on.
