Many people here bought their 980TI and have enjoyed months of gaming.
But people are too easily hooked up on the Hype.
People are claiming that the 1070 is faster than the 980ti and it just isn't true..
Wait for the benchmarks ....actual benchmarks...
It's best to just put him on ignore, every single thing that comes out of his mouth relates directly to his circumstances, not that of the person / people looking for advice. In his mind, it all makes sense because it'd be fine if he did it. He's incapable of looking outside of his little bubble, as has been demonstrated countless times on this board.
OP: Don't sweat it. It's still a great card regardless, the only thing I'd be peeved about if I were in your shoes is that I paid full whack for it. I can't stand buying GPUs, because whatever you end up buying is going to be old tech in a year max anyway.

You seem to be struggling to get your head around the fact that someone has just spent hundreds of pounds on a card that is already old tech, when he could've got the latest stuff for the same price, and is understandably suffering from buyer's remorse.
It's hardly rocket science, is it? What's in your head isn't always right, you should probably work towards understanding that.
Even if he had waited...His card would be outclassed by the ti version....so if you play the top tier gfx game you never win.

Still doesn't change the fact that the OP has bought a card which is already old tech when he could've got something which would've easily been the fastest card on the planet for 6+ months.
And people who bought a 980 ti in Jan have had the fastest card for months and still have the fastest card

Diddums - some of us ar just impatient! and how long before next gen is announced - 6 months, we'll always be waiting.
Without needing to go 4k a 980Ti is exceptional. I tend to buy pc bits (and cars actually) for what the will do rather than how cost effective they are.

Oh absolutely, make no mistake I understand the way this works, but all my posts are referring to the OP, who may well have been better off waiting. Some people struggle to grasp this however.
To be honest I'm still using my trusty 290 which still serves me fine for the very little time I get to play games, but this is actually a release which I'm excited about for once.
I'm looking forward to the Performance tests here and seeing 980ti above the so called new shiny 1070 that seems to be the second coming.
Just because hardware becomes last gen doesn't make it suddenly crap...
The 780ti and the 970 is a perfect example of this...
Hence why people kept onto their 780 ti's and didn't upgrade to the lastest...

NVIDIA’s own performance marketing slides put the average at around 65% faster than GTX 980 and 20-25% faster than GTX Titan X/980 Ti, which is relatively consistent for a new NVIDIA GPU. Of course, real-world performance remains to be seen, and will vary from game to game.

If the 2014 model was faster and that was paramount then yes...

I think you are ( and probably intentionally) completely missing the point of why you are arguing this in the first place.
Even though the 780Ti was still marginally faster than the 970 at launch, you would still have had to have been bonkers to want to spend £500 on a 780Ti when you could have got a 970 for £270 which came within a whisker of 780Ti performance and used a heap load less power, ran cooler and offered a bit more vram.
This is why 780Ti's immediately dropped to £300 (and even less to £250 further down the line)
That is the point everyone is making and it is undeniably true.
Exactly the same situation will happen with the 1070 whether it is marginally slower or marginally faster than the 980Ti or Titan X. You and I both know it is going to be in the ballpark of 980Ti and Titan X performance and will cost just over £300 which means buying a 980 Ti for £500+ now is a silly thing to do, unless your money doesn't mean anything to you.
You say you are "loaded" so perhaps you don't see this the same way us peasants do, who actually have to be careful not to throw our hard earned money in the bin...
