• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

I actually feel upset and sick :(

I do genuinely hope easyrider hasn't gone insane and started a 2nd account to agree with himself lol. That is a permaban offence, which for a poster with 30k posts would be hard to take!

*Not in any way an accusation, merely an observation.

Take it on the chin, stand by your decision and enjoy a card that will monster 1080p @ 144hz, you may feel like you've missed out but you haven't at all, not by a long shot.

That 980ti will sail through everything until either the 1080ti comes out, you change your monitor or you just fancy a change.

Don't get roped into the merry-go-round of GPU swapping, it only matters to a select few on the internet that they need the latest and greatest card.

You made a decision when building your PC based on what was available at the time and it was the right one, you're getting the best possible graphics performance available to you at the present time, ask any GTX 1080 owner how much performance they're getting at the minute? oh yeah....

Let's be honest, he more than likely has. He's bought a few new toys recently (thanks Hitachi) and is crying out for people to acknowledge them. There are simply too many flags. The way he just mentions ezyryder and knows exactly how it's spelt, the way this new easyrider has just popped up miraculously asking for photos of the exact toys he's bought, plus the fact that he's mentioned his new monitor at least five times in the last two days just tells me it's a huge deal for him and he wants everyone to know this. Of course he's already said he's loaded so has out himself in a a bit of a predicament because a £1k monitor is pocket change to anyone who's actually loaded.

A self fabricated catch 22 if you will.

His fantasies are fun though, it'd be a shame for him to get banned. God forbid id have to find someone else to make me feel good about myself.

I am not easyrider, I am me. But who is me?

I don't know why you'd be upset or sick over buying a PC component.

But 980ti has been bad value for a while, and everyone knew they'd soon be redundant (completely redundant as nvidia driver cripple older generation cards to make people upgrade).

Anyway, Pascal looks like nothing special to say the very least. You should have waited, but Pascal looks pretty weak.

Paper launch ahead of AMD with only a trickle of product untill probably August was for a reason.

There seems to be virtually no architcectural improvement (save for a couple of scenarios in vr where they were hilariously weak to begin with), and the fears of a respun maxwell rushed to FINFET seem confirmed. It's going to be a long wait for Volta, for NVIDIA, and I think they'll struggle badly to compete.

Those high clocks are way higher stock than is preferable. Yes FINFET increases clocks, but the total lack of architectural upgrade is being compensated for with super high clocks and much higher than expected TDPs relative to performance. I suspect that these clocks will lead to core degradation pretty quickly.

I suspect the much smaller Polaris 10 core from AMD will generally come very close to this, and in some scenarios completely obliterate it due to new hardware features. I think a Polaris or Vega core of similar size to these GP104s would likely be on a different planet performance wise.

Don't get caught up in what's probably going to be very short lived hype. I suspect Pascal's going to be a total bust relative to the competition, and already looks very disappointing given the huge nodal leap.

are you guys really falling for the nvidia marketing blablub with 2x performance?

are you out of your minds

oc 1080 will be at best 20-25% faster then gtx 980 ti oc

No, I don't think anybody is. NVIDIA themselves don't claim 2x performance for conventional games.
This is NVIDIA blablub:
