I actually feel upset and sick :(

you are seriously advocating somebody buying 980ti, then a 1080, then a 1080ti?

Boy, my wallet would feel bad...

Is the way of the Nvidia if you want to avoid get caught on their driver degradation policy and see 6 months down the line a 3 year old card (290X) overtaking you by a big margin.

Last time I checked, it wasn't compulsory to install their drivers. In fact, I'll probably stick on the latest one now as it's working fine.

Drivers aren't gimped, that's paranoia. Prob well optimised already so little further improvements to be made.

DM i would like you to answer me this question, or anyone else for that matter.
performance wise which of these 2 GPUs is the best, and by how much % (10-20-30%...) : FuryX or 980Ti/TX ?

Driver degradation? Any links to this or is this just in your head?

I think it is more likely that they are making less effort to optimize games for older GPU whereas AMD are still selling the older hardware and have improved more. I don't think there is a conspiracy where they are actively trying to make them worse.

That doesn't show driver degradation but shows how Maxwell got all the love (which is fair enough). I do believe that recent drivers in the last year or so have also given Kepler/Fermi some love as well but cba to look for that.

Or it could just mean the AMD divers were bad to start with, so have more scope to improve?

Yer pretty much. AMD have generally played it safe with drivers and at times it has taken 10 months or more to get some nice gains, which isn't really a good selling point. They need to be quicker to get performance out for their users.

you know there is a more simpler way to gimp performance, they dont have to actualy decrease it overtime, mostly because it's very hard to pull off without being noticed , but what they can do, is not optimise the current generation for up coming titles, long enough so that the new launching generation, would be more optimised and shine better on reviews against older generation of cards, thats why personally, im more interested in seeing how much the 1080 is over a FuryX rather than seeing how much is it over a 980Ti

I honestly believe the day one driver optimisation thing is marketing BS. Do devs work on horrendously unoptimised drivers until after release when nvidia decide to provide these magical drivers?

I'd be interested if anyone could point to two drivers where a significant difference could be noted on a single card set up. SLI, yeah fair enough... But single card I'm not convinced.

Why are people stating that the 1070 is going to be offering similar performance for 379 USD, when we don't have any benchmarks nor hardware specs to speak of right now? If anything the GTX 980 Ti is going to give the GTX 1080 a run for its money.

and yet another genius who thinks he knows more than NVIDIA.

Why would they ruin their reputation by lying to us? A few quick sales compared with billions of rnd investment? Use your fn head

Because people forget fairly fast these days? Btw there is a difference between straight out lying and deceptive marketing.

Companies do lie. Look at the car industry for a start. Then there was Enron, $100+ billion dollar revenue company went pop. Not to say that this is the case for Nvidia but if you're not in their inner circle none of us know the truth.

The real trick is to exaggerate the truth or cherry pick results and highlight those. You're not lying but you're not being honest with your customers. It happens every day in every industry. Legally right but morally dubious.
