So who is actually going to buy a 1070 or 1080 ?

Going to wait to see AMD's effort and some benchmarks before even thinking about a purchase. I want to see some thoughts on running two cards and maybe even mixing Pascal and Polaris cards too. Might even wait till they launch their flagship card for this round.

1080's most likely. But I'll be waiting for benchmarks before I commit. I'm hoping it will be a good 30% over my Ti's. Seeing as the 1070 is supposed to be faster aswell.

If it is not a worthy upgrade I'll wait until next year for the hmb2 cards.

2x1080's, but I'm pretty tempted to wait for the likes of MSI to release their designs. If I can't then I'll be getting the Early Adopters Special :D

(I'll be putting blocks on them anyhow tbh)

No it isn't... they're doing the same thing that they did with the last two generations because they're so far ahead of ATi/AMD.

GTX670/680 = mid-range / mobile version of GTX780Ti / Titan
GTX970/980 = mid-range / mobile version of GTX980Ti / Titan X
GTX1070/1080 = mid-range / mobile version of GTX1080Ti / Titan 1080

You can get a vague idea of the real full-size chip from the Tesla announcement:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/10222/nvidia-announces-tesla-p100-accelerator-pascal-power-for-hpc

Expect a 25-40% performance bump over the 1080 and 16GB memory for the new titan... probably 12 for the Ti.

980ti and Titan X was definitely a different chip to 980 and 970.

Im fairly sure we're getting the full 1080.

Edit: Maybe you two just misinterpreted each other?

Yeah coming back to the green team, Gonna pick up an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW +Backplate. That will do nicely until we get the big boys next year. Looking forward to the next Nano type card from AMD with HBM 2.0. But that is a long ways off..

assuming AMD cannot match these I'll be getting one for sure. Depending on benchmarks @1440p I'll pick whichever is best bang for buck to replace my 970.

I'll pass, should get another year at least from my 980Ti. Look forward to seeing some of these break 2ghz though!

Depends on the reviews. They're not some rare and precious resource that needs to be pre-ordered and committed to via a contract signed in blood. Need to know if the real thing matches Nvidia's hype first.

I feel the same. I'll either wait until they release a 1080Ti. Or skip this gen all together and get a card from the next gen.

Unless they show it can do async which up until this point it's looks like it can not same issues as Maxwell I won't even touch it. To many console ports games that will use it for it not to have async nvidea really dropped the ball. It's a beefy dx 11 card granted but in no ways a architecture that will last the test of time. PS4k will leverage gcn Xbox one and PS4. I'm really disappointed wanted nvidea to be back with something that had at least async shaders. I'll probably wait out till Vega or 1080ti if they change sync support. Lazy devs won't code for a minority of nvidea cards unless PC is lead platform. So far only star citizen is out anytime soon that has PC as lead platform. And it's a amd title shame

I read a bit more about Pascal 1080/1070 that could have benefit in VR . the Devs need to use VRworks to developed their game to get benefit or else it will just run like previous GPU so it will be a while before VR games will take benefit of the 1080/1070

getting charged more for a reference card doesn't suit me, I'd rather wait for a custom card and if you're waiting then there's also time to see what AMD brings too.

It's not really a super smart move to pay more to have less (even compared to the nvidia custom cards) and then have no idea what the competition is going to bring as well. I'll admit I was impressed with the 8gb vram and performance is pretty good too but all in all we're still getting 256 bit bus and overpriced on launch parts here, it seems better to wait for the bigger version (like 980ti equivelant) and have time to see what the competition has. They're going to over price it just based on it launching first anyway so it's not a great deal even if it's a good card so better off waiting even if you do have your heart set on these cards.
