So who is actually going to buy a 1070 or 1080 ?

Tempted to get a 1080 upgrading from a 670 would help so much. Anyone know how long roughly it takes for the non reference cards to come out after launch?

while temping I will prob stick with my 980tis for a while, if I was on just one then it might be a different matter. At this point ill be better off spending my cash on a Gsync monitor

Up until a couple of months ago I had a 970 and was waiting for the 1080 and was going to upgrade straight away. But I managed to upgrade to a fury nano for an extra £80, so I'm happy to wait a few months and let the dust settle before I decide what to do.

Looking forward to the full reviews to be released, and then AMD's turn :)

As tempting the 1070 is, I am going to be sensible and wait for Polaris and see what the reviews say before buying.

Don't see the point of the 1080 for myself (too expensive for a mid range card), I will be getting either big pascal or vega when it comes out :D

I'm actually going to wait for the 1080ti I think, won't be doing much gaming over the summer anyway and I'll just pick up a used card to tide me over for a few months come winter.

Sold my 980 a while back in preparation for this. Have been using a 960 since so I want to upgrade, not sure which yet though.

Want to see what the performance difference between the 1080 and 1070 is.

Running a 290x currently.

Will wait to see 1080 benchmarks, also want to see what is announced AMD side.

Basically, in 2 months i'll buy 2x of whatever is fastest. So either 1080 SLI or AMD Crossfire...

Then hopefully i'll have made my mind up on Vive or Oculus at that point also.

I'm going for one or two to replace my SLI 780's... I cant really work out if one 1080 is a sidestep from my current setup... what I really want is to drive my 165hz PG279Q as fast as I possible can!

If Jen Hsun's claims are correct, the 1080 is supposedly twice as fast as 980 SLI, so it will be a huge performance jump for you.

Well I can see you lot are really enthusiastic about these so call me captain killjoy because I’m in the no I won’t be buying one. At least no, not just yet.

Firstly I want to analysis the numbers and read the reviews, I worried about Nvidia’s DX12 performance (based of Maxwell) and want to see if it’s been addressed. Also new cards from AMD are coming out and I want to see how they fit into mix, I certainly I won’t be making any purchasing decision based on hearsay, random rumor mill sites and forum speculation and the opinion of a couple fanboys.

Sensible man :D

1070 is definitely tempting if it has 980Ti performance.

That said, I'm still on 1080p. And I'm not jumping into VR for a little while yet. So, it might not actually be that worthwhile an upgrade over my 970 for right now.

I was always under the impression (rightly or wrongly) that the regular 980's wernt much of a bump over the 780's, and so if the 1080 is roughly equivilent to 980SLI a single GTX1080 wouldnt be much faster than what I have?

For the record I have had zero issues running SLI on the games I play these last 3 years :)

I play FPS multiplayer games almost exclusively and I suffer dreadfully with headaches if motion blur is present so running 144 - 165hz would be ideal for me! Right now Im getting around 120fps in BF on custom (near to ultra) settings...
