A new spec me a family car thread for £5k

Just wondering why this one is cheap compared to others that don't have the 2.5 engine

Because generally the buyers of a large family car are more interested in lower running costs than performance (or as you discovered "perceived" running costs - i.e. doesn't really cost much more in Insurance, or VED, and unless you are doing huge amount of miles isn't going to cost much more in fuel).

Also:
Remap will see you over 250bhp e.g.

Nice remap, there's a garage that does it just a few miles around the corner from me too.

Annoyingly this car is quite a trek away from me and I won't have any time to see it until the weekend. Hope nobody buys it in meantime

I guess you could say that, if comparing it to a sit on lawn mower?

This coming from someone who owns a CTDI Civic. They are powerful enough, even more so with a 200bhp remap, but not fast.

I mean they're perfectly decent to drive, competent and one of the least dieselly diesels I've driven. Certainly not slow, but "adequate" is about as generous as I could be when describing the performance

Once of these, you'll be amazed how you get used to have loads of space! Good MPG, kit, lookds good, good in a crash as they weigh about2.4 ton so safe for little one... I love my JEEP! Great family car!

So I purchased the Mondeo yesterday evening and drove it straight home. M25 was a mess yesterday so didn't get to enjoy the first ride in it.

Still felt far more refined then my old mk3 even if I barely got up to more than 50mph. Felt like I didn't need to put any effort in to driving. Love it.

Isn't it fast enough standard ? I have the ST with the same engine but has 225bhp standard and I've looked at remapping on and off mainly the bluefin but have heard it can cause clutch slip almost immediately depending how strong your clutch is its going to shorten its lifespan with the extra torque and your looking at around £800 for a new clutch kit fitted.

I do agree with what your saying, on an old 08 car it could be potential problems but there is a documented flat spot around 1500rpm and this remap fixes this. I do notice this in the week I've owned it. It doesn't feel like it picks up until after that rev point. It's still just an idea at present.

Pics soon as want to get a good wash done on it.
