Praise Allah to be on British buses

I'm torn on this one, I've never condoned advertising religious beliefs in advertisements and think it's a bad move.

Obviously this is for a charity to help with the efforts over in Syria. But again, this could be seen in an entirely different light, which is what the second article I've linked below seem to be droning on about.

Personally, it's cool they are trying to raise awareness for the charity. But by slapping 'Praise Allah' on the side of a bus they will cause controversy.

Thoughts?

Arabic for praise God. It's like writing 'praise God' on the side of buses in english. No one would bat an eye.

HSBC apparently closed all their accounts due to potential links with Terrorists, so slightly concerning yes

The question is would you have a problem with 'praise the lord' on the side?

I don't do religion so I would not even bother to think anything.

Who cares religious sucks and is a fraud anyway :)

That the announcement of the new campaign came the day after London crowned its first Muslim leader, Mayor Sadiq Khan. Islamic Relief called it a “nice irony” that the two events coincided.

I'm more annoyed that this guy doesn't know the difference between irony and coincidence.

Disagree with this. The Lords prayer was banned/censored recently. Religions if "advertised" should be done so equally.

Blasphemy laws in Shariah courts will be on the cards within the next decade or so.

Personally I don't mind 'BUT' I do actually think there would be an outcry from some if 'Praise God' was written on the side of buses.
Because it's Muslim does it get a free pass, with anyone complaining seen as a filthy racist?

There have been Christian adverts on buses, there wasn't a big outcry.

Just a quick reminder that not too long ago, followers of that very cult tried to introduce London's public transport to the peaceful way of Allah.

Yeah because those brainwashed fanatics represent billions of normal peaceful Muslims

I have no problem with it but you usual knuckle draggers are obviously going to have a problem with it ie Britain First, EDL, BNP ..etc .etc

I don't think it's unreasonable to worry about Britain being influenced by Islamic culture, we are at rather opposite ends of the spectrum socially. Easy to dismiss everyone who has that concern as a "knuckle dragger" though.

Was it banned?

Or was an advert making specific claims banned?
There is a world of difference.

I don't see a problem with it, IIRC pretty much every religious denomination has done similar advertising, and it's legal as long as it doesn't make specific claims, or breach the law in other ways.

And don't be so silly, we won't see such laws or courts (at least not in the sense you're meaning).
