Back in January I bought myself a comfy barge for commuting to work in. I'll be buying another Lotus this weekend for the fun days, so two quite different extremes lol!

I sold the Z4M as I didn't gel with it due to the crap handling and appalling ride quality and had a monster bill fixing the engine....

Anyway onto the barge, I know the colour is probably not to anyones taste but it's acceptable enough for me :p

Details are:

Lexus LS430
106K
1 Owner from new
Full Lexus Service history since new
Pretty much every option apart from the reversing camera, it even has the 'president pack' lmao!

In short it's super comfy and squishy to get to work in zero fuss and quick enough to get past most traffic.
Fuel economy is pretty crap but I didn't buy it for that and I only do about 5K a year commuting so a no brainer to have my first V8.
It cost £3.8K and hasn't cost me anything but lots of fuel :p

Looks dead comfortable and imagine the refinement is excellent.

What does this 'President Pack' get you over standard? :p

2 SMOOTH

Enjoy the tape deck :p

1 owner from new - impressive!

Rear seat stuff I would imagine - radio controls, seat massage, seat movement, seat heating, etc. Look at pic 4

That's fantastic! Please update this thread with your experience as I will probably get one of these in the future!

Guessing you must be approaching retirement right?

I wouldn't be seen dead driving around in that thing.. not even that cheap.

I can never get on with the styling of these, but they're incredible value for money.

Why can't someone make a car with Jaguar styling, BMW technology and Lexus reliability and dealer support? :p

Should have pitched for a facelift but doesn't matter. Edit - ignore, no chance at £1500

The starter motor may go, it's under the manifold and Toyota will sell you a rebuild kit for £15. Don't bother fitting a new one. The labour is about 3 hours.

Timing belt is really easy on this engine, 2 hours.

Toyota will sell you the engine oil for £15, go to Lexus and get their essential servicing. I paid £99 at Lexus Nottingham for the minor service.

If your AC is leaking it's the pipe that goes to the rear and goes above the fuel tank etc. Don't bother replacing it, just cut the rear pipe and have the ended ally welded.

Steering wheel adjustment motors goes, can be nicked from a Land Cruiser. My up and down went but I just disconnected it, set mine manually and left it as it never needed adjusting again.

Definitely could do with more threads like this

even the newer models look awful but the refinement and tech is great!

Looks nice but was there not a decent headlight option for this car? Just looks like bog standard reflectors.
Looks like a proper wafter though! :D

£3.8k seems an awful lot of money for one of these old Lexus's doesn't it?

I would have assumed that these were more in the lulzy £1k bargain barge price bracket
