Everyone calm down : It is amazing how short memories are

They did quite clearly imply that it requires dev support. I don't see how multi-view port would even be possible without some engine changes.

Thanks, I missed that part of the presentation.

So for the majority of games no "massive" VR improvements, just the baseline generation improvement. But I bet all the figures and graphs mentioned in the presentation were using them. :)

I'm relieved that some folks on these forums is sensible enough not to get caught up in the hype. Though I'll admit the only reason I'm not excited is because I'm looking forward to the stronger cards (1080ti/Fury X-equivalent). Wait till full benchmarks. I know some media outlets already have the cards, but I'm concerned as to where the reviews and benchmarks are. We know they have them, so what up with the NDA if the 1080 launches at the end of this month? I'd be suspicious of any late (i.e. on release day) review embargo. That said 980ti reviews only released when that was first announced/released and that card wasn't so bad. But just because it's been good in the past, doesn't guarantee things will run the same in the future.

Well anyone who is unsure, just wait for my review and comparison vids and I will show exactly how a 1080 fairs against a Titan X SC :)

I think it's pretty safe to say that the new Nvidia cards are everything we expected them to be. nothing more, nothing less. Very typical of a new generation release.

This x1000.

You can tell a lot of people are very angry that the 1080 is going to be as good as it is after months of ridiculing Nvidia.

How do we know how great/good the 1080 is? Based on these leaked benches? lol. Once again i thought you stated facts etc? And didn't believe rumours. We have not got reviewers showing how great the 1080 is until then we can't just go ahead and go yep the 1080 is great. Might not be as fast as nVidia stated in their slides and only end up being slightly faster than the 980Ti.

Who knows?

I'm not basing my opinion on any rumors but official announcements and cold hard fats, like Nvidia are releasing a 1080 in May and not 6 months after AMD release Polaris, that Nvidia are Using GDDR5X in May and not September, the chips size, known architectural details, GP100 insights and official nvidia presentation material.

We do know because anyone with some sense can work it out from the specs :p

It is a 2560 cuda core card which seems to be able to do 2000mhz+ pretty easily on air.

It is literally 256 cuda cores down on the 980Ti and that is it. It has a stock boost that is 600mhz+ more than the 980Ti and it appears 2000mhz+is a run of the mill overlock. It is rated at 9Tflops at stock and the 980Ti is only rated at less than 6Tflops at stock. It has more vram and because of GDDR5X pretty much the same memory bandwith.

Even if there is hardly any IPC improvement between a Maxwell and Pascal core ( I would imagine there will be at least a small amount), the sheer clock speeds it is capable of doing will make it a decent bit faster than a 980Ti.

You have got to be a serious pessimist to think the 1080 wont be at least around 30% faster than a 980Ti.

You know the chart they showed with the 1080 ahead of the titan x by 22% was in terms of relative VR performance. It gains its lead mostly from Single pass rendering and Multi projection in VR.

The one that shows around 22% was non-VR - the VR ones show closer to twice the TX.

This and this was presented by nVidia which ofc are going to try and show their card in the best light. Lets remember back when AMD had slides showing the Fury x beating the 980Ti however reviewers ended up painting a complete different picture.

The other slides showed around 28-33% in game tests - the actual average over a range of games is probably somewhere around that mid to low 20% area.
