No Takers for VR: TechPowerUp New GPU Survey

All I want is a 40" UltraWide/5120x2160 res/144HZ/IPS (or Oled or better)/Curved/G-sync & Freesync/non-PWM monitor, with included state-of-the-art soundbar along the bottom, and an attached smaller 15.6" 1080p retractable screen that you can raise above the large screen, or lower behind it, at the press of a button.

Priced well at £149.98 they would sell like hot-cakes.

no takers for VR? that is one weird recap for a weird survey !
i am 100% sure that every single person on that survey would LOVE to get a Vive, the thing is they cannot afford it, VR out of reach would have been a better recap.
HTC and oculus, are just milking enthusiasts for now, because manufacturing 10k units every month, shows how far they are from cost efficient.
sony is preparing 10mil units for october launch, with a 300$ price, thats groundzero for VR.

Can afford, love gadgets, don't want VR :confused::confused:

:D

VR is really interesting, no regrets buying my Rift. But it's a really bad poll.

They say they asked what readers most want from a new GPU and translated a vote that wasn't for VR as a lack of interest in VR. I want most from a new GPU for it to beat the **** out of whatever pixels I demand of it, be that VR or regular gaming. So a vote for Price/Performance is a vote for everything.

Terrible click-bait article.

This is a really misleading poll.

Even someone who cares about VR would likely consider price/performance the most important aspect. After all, people aren't generally going to buy a higher end PC and not also play plenty of 2d games on it. Very few are VR-only type of gamers. Plus price/performance still matters even if VR is your top priority.

VR, the new 3D :p

Exactly my thoughts! Bought 3D vision when it first came out and whilst some games were pretty epic the motion sickness kinda ruined it for me. I can only see VR going the same way, it's just the latest buzz word at the moment.

VR = Gimmick imo and in five years time you'll forget it ever existed, much the same as 3D nowadays....

I'm going to wait for the 2nd gen of VR products before I decide whether or not to jump on the bandwagon, but for now ill stick with trying to get a 1080 and an x34.

VR will be fantastic.....in another 10-15 years ;)

VR is already fantastic, the tech is good enough to provide you with complete immersion, any upgrade like resolution would bring some extra comfort, maybe getting rid of the cables would be the biggest change.

This survey was amongst their users, if they are disinterested they should just stay clear, because it has no reflection on the actual market for it - which is bigger than them. It's a primary school level survey that should be ignored.

I would not mind a Vive headset but what i want to use it for mainly is 3d movies recorded using HFR or better since no one does that it would be something that would sit on my shelve most of the time as i dont have the time to dive really deep into a proper gaming session these days.

The TV manufacturers raved about 3D a few years back. It's a feature that has been mostly dropped on the latest models.

I wonder if VR will share the same fate.
