So this tech has been out for a while now. Still seems to be mad expensive though. Want 1440p with GSync? £500 or more. It's too much for most of us. You can get a 1440p monitor without it for peanuts almost.

Will the GSync premium go anytime soon? I want to try it but it's just so expensive.

Try freesync if the gsync premium is too much, gsync is more expensive because the monitors require hardware to be built in specifically for gsync

Probably not it's Nvidia, but anyone who's used my PC to test G-Sync have ordered their own Monitor within a few days.

If your wanting to take a punt you can pick ROG Swifts up from £300 + in the MM.

I've got an original Asus Rog Swift for sale on the MM if you're interested.

My stance on Sync tech is if you have the horse power to keep your frames high save your cash, dont lock yourself into a GPU brand specific monitor and just get a 144hz monitor

I notice little to no difference with my Freesync 144HZ monitor compared to my previous 120HZ no sync monitor

The premium is definitely annoying - I'm currently looking at getting a new 24" monitor - I have my eye on the g2460pf, however I have an Nvidea card and it's Freesync - the GSync version is £90 more

Certainly makes me think about changing from Nvidea to AMD in the new launch of cards this year...

Once you use gsync, its going to be almost impossible to go back.
I'd say this with a caveat...it depends on the game, and it isn't a replacement for higher framerates. You still don't really want to dip below 60fps, and <55fps still feels pretty shabby.

Also, some games are alright without it. BF4 for example plays very well without G-Sync, still feels fairly smooth (helps that I can maintain 100fps constantly). CS:GO on the other hand is absolutely dreadful to play without it.

No No no no.. i have done just that and have no issues. the last 2 weeks before selling my 980ti i had gsync off and couldnt have cared less. Please dont state your own experience as fact for everyone.

so people keep saying. I felt the same with SSD when I first tried so I believe you. It's just way too expensive for me atm :(

I disagree with the guy you replied to, variable refresh rate tech is a nice bonus sure but not worth the premium(gsync premium) in my own honest opinion. I own a gsync monitor myself and regret paying that premium and i have tested every scenario i could put gsync through.

What I would say about Gsync is I never noticed it until I didn't have it so to speak.

I always just accepted screen tearing in some games (Just Cause/Crysis/FarCry etc) and never noticed it at all in others, racing games for example (F1/Dirt/Grid).

The I got the Acer XB281HK and after a day or 2 I thought yeah the games look really good but not spectacular. Went back to my Samsung 1440p PLS and the tearing was unbearable, I couldn't believe how big a difference it made.

Obviously when it comes to the Premium it's entirely up to the individual but for me it was worth it - especially for the racing games. I don't know if it's the gsync or the fact that I've gone from a PLS to TN a panel (and thus achieving a lower Response Time) but I have DEFINITELY got quicker at them, F1 2014 in particular, or maybe it's just my imagination!
FYI I picked my Acer up for £425 so got a good deal anyway.

^^ You do realise that Freesync currently only works with AMD cards don't you???

Presumably you're playing with just 'normal' Vsync then if you never see screen tear. I have to ask, why on earth would you buy a top end Nvidia card, and a very decent gaming monitor, that don't make the most of each other's features?
