How much do you drink?

Well i wouldnt say guranteed. But as previously mentioned, you are looking at this in a very black and white way, why is this?

Saying that drinking every day regardless of amount, is significantly bad for you, is black and white. There has been nothing to prove that a pint a day is enough to be fatally damaging to you. So saying it wont kill you may be black and white but as far as evidence goes, is not wrong.

I tipped the last bit of spiced rum and two thirds a litre of blended whiskey that I still had down the sink the other day. I wasn't a big drinker anyway. It really doesn't agree with me anymore, not matter how much I like the taste or my doctor says a occassional drink won't hurt (when balanced against other things in life ;)).

Wall of txt coming up.. :p

Funny thing is I never used to drink at all for about 18 years, used to have a few buds and I would wake up feeling like hell so never drank.

Yes my poo is black-ish and the missus hates my flatulence after eating red meat. :p

I did also seek help. I went the doctors said I need something to help me sleep as I am
drinking to get to sleep. I told him the truth and he went all weird and sent me to AA sort of place, but it was one on one and for liver and kidney function blood tests.. all came back fine by the way. ;)

I spoke to them and explained it all and I said to the woman, am I an alcoholic she said no but close, which I thought was a strange reply.

Funny story I was due to meet the alcohol woman at 9:30am and the day before met my mates, and well 14 pints later and hitting the sack at 2am I was well sloshed.

Up at 7:30am not as bright as usual as I don't usually drink that much and had the meeting at 9:30am. She said how much did you drink last night I laughed and said more than enough and told her.
She said how did you get here I said I drove, out comes the breathalyzer.
**** I thought I was pinched, guess what I was under the alcohol limit by 1 unit for driving I could not believe it.

I cannot drink larger even if its 3% it gives me a banging head ache same with white wine, and my friends get told were to go if they buy me shots or shorts.

As for coffee consumption I have drank coffee like that since I was about 15 so 28 years. I used to work for a guy and he drank more than I did.

I never get ill, dont get a hangover unless I take the urine. I get every thing I need to do done in the day.
Today for example I had a rare day off so fitted an outside tap in the house.

The bills are paid, I don't claim any benefits and get on just fine.

The are less calories in pint of Guinness than a pint of orange juice.

Also before anyone says its the coffee keeping me awake its not, I have tried
abstaining from coffee it does not work, on holiday I drink very little coffee and still cannot sleep.
I have tried water all day and hot milk at night and nothing, my brain just wont STFU.

Bing drinking is very bad for you, if you abstain all week then hit the booze it will take you out quick.
In medieval times thats all humans consumed as the water was not safe to drink, so we are sort of designed to consume
alcohol on a regular basis. A tipple now and again is fine same as a few pints after work.

But not drinking all week then smashing it will kill you. :(

By the way I am 5.10 and 9.5st. ;)

I usually have 3 x 660ml bottles of Heineken 4-5 nights a week although I've cut a day out in the last week due to nothing other than cost.

We moved offices a couple of weeks ago and are now next door to a gym so I am actually tempted to can the beer altogether after I get married in September and join it, if I spent an hour in there i'd miss all of the traffic getting out of Doncaster every day and save money on fuel too.

Like the guy "itchy" who posted above, I find I sleep better after a couple of beers as it makes me tired & stops me thinking about pointless rubbish when I wake up at 3:30am because the dog farted or a gust of wind made a bit of noise. I also often have lucid dreams when I've not drunk for a few days but wake up what feels like about 10 seconds in, that is then my nights sleep ruined as I can't stop thinking about it as they are so real and detailed.

That's because you're messing up your REM sleep. Google it :)

I guess it depends on your definition of bing drinking?

9 pint in a night to me is bing drinking, so I'm not sure how drinking 9 pints Friday, Saturday and Sunday night is going to kill you quicker than drinking that 7 nights a week?

Don't get me wrong, I love my booze but there will be health implications from drinking that amount a day. it may not be something as obvious as liver disease, but depression, anxiety, heart issues, GORD and anyone of the other associated drinking health risks.

Bing drinking is, not drinking and then binging, that's a killer as your body does not have time to acclimatize to your alcohol consumption.

Its like your liver being hit by a bus once or twice a week, and then sailing in serendipity for 4 to 5 times a week.

If you drink every day your liver sees the bus coming and adjusts accordingly. :D

Most people in the Mediterranean drink with every meal and do fine.

I cannot for the life of me drink in the morning it makes me gag badly, unless I been to a funeral. That is the only time I have ever drank before 12pm.

Have done in the past & i'm not convinced, I used to regularly go to school before i'd discovered beer on only a couple of hours sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about things, one stray thought and BAM! i'm laid awake thinking about something random that has peaked my interest.

I get a really good nights sleep after a couple of beers, I still wake up but I find I can turn over and be asleep again in seconds rather than laying there wondering about pointless things like should I get my hair cut this week or next, would the person that added me on LinkedIn a few hours ago be a good sales prospect in the morning, is it worth taking the 19.8 mile route to work over the 23 mile route to work given that the shorter route will cause more tyre & clutch wear, what should I have for lunch tomorrow, what would it have been like around here 500 years ago, do the smoke alarm batteries need changing, would the GF mind if I prodded her as i'm feeling frisky, will we ever go back to the moon, is religion a bad thing?

I need an off switch, lol.

Too much...

When home it far too often slipped to 2-3 0.5 bottles of beer / cider a night and sometimes on friday / saturday it ended up being a bottle of wine. Though I've noticed that it destroys my sleep, so I've been toning it down lately-

Now I'm stuck in Frankfurt airport hotel after my flight got cancelled. After having ran all over the airport to get myself sorted out, few hefeweizen and jack daniels colas were definitely earned by pedaling those 9200 steps.

A bit like me accept I am making music, creating games and coming up with the next profit making scheme while trying to sleep. :(

I cannot switch off for the life of me. My missus gets on my nerves she can take power naps in the day and can sleep on a washing line.

Yes I am very jealous of her, the lucky *******!

I don't drink to get drunk as I don't like being drunk, but I drink to switch off and die in bed so to say.

Side effects are, sex life and flatulence! :D But hey at least I get a good nights sleep. ;)

I used to drink, usually in moderation, but I have now given up for approx six months. Alcohol is a waste of money and makes me feel worse in general, so I am much better off without it. I do not miss it at all. If you're thinking of giving up, my advice would be go for it, do not let male bravado get in the way.

You can't be serious about this? 9 pints and I'm FLOORED. Maybe you're drinking weak lager?

Some people build up some kind of tolerance to it. I get upto around 9-10 pints or equivalent then stop as its all downhill from there - there comes a point where I know just one more drink will tip me over from moderately intoxicated to throwing up.

2-3 bottles of cider per night is fairly standard.
I have steak night with a few friends over once a week and i'll generally have a bottle of Red wine with that.

I echo that. I've never been much of a drinker but did enjoy a glass of wine. When busy working for a few years I probably had on average a bottle every week, sometimes two a week, sometimes 1 every two weeks.

Now I find alcohol makes me feel worse so pretty much have given up.I did have one small glass (one of those small bottles you can buy) about two weeks ago but before that was xmas and even then I never paid for it and also diidn't enjoy it either

I'd rather spend the money on other things. I used to enjoy a nice expensive wine occassionally - see that as a waste now.

My diet has also changed a lot over recent years. Although I'm eating a bit more meat at the moment due to having to pick up a sandwich on the way to work,I try to eat mostly plant based foods. When I do eat meat it's usually of high quality - you won't see me at KFC or tesco's budget meat counter.
The diet change came about due to a health issue that flares up sometimes but noticed I just felt more healthy. A year or so ago my weight dropped a lot due to healthy eating and excerise that I had to be careful not to lose more :D (9.75 stone for a 6 footer).
