Also have a question on the Gigabyte g7 gaming board in the quad core spec.. as it has two M2 slots would it be better to run the OS off the Sata SSD and have the two M2 as storage for games etc??

Using the PC for what?

If you're using software that will make use of the extra cores then Haswell-E, if not so much then the Skylake build.

If it's a purely gaming build then personally I'd go with Skylake. Sure, games will start making use of more cores in the future but I think we're a long way off massive gaming gains from 6 core CPUs.

Mainly gaming yes but sometime in the future may start looking at streaming but to be fair will have a second small PC for doing the decoding.. Might need to do some video editing but will be very small projects now and again.

You aware that both those CPU+boards are available as bundle deals to save money.

£20 steam voucher with the gaming7 also.

I thought there might be but as I am waiting for the 1080 and EK to release the water block i didn't include it in my pricing as the bundles may have changed by then.

Thanks All.

Think i will stick with the skylake.

anyone have any comments about this?

I would run OS off 1 M.2 and games of the other m.2 and sata... I think its just preference tho, all will be fast , just m.2 will be F____ing fast (if you get the right drive)

Skylake i5.

Streaming isn't that CPU intensive and will use hardware acceleration sooner or later.
