Nvidia gets a major console win with Nintendo NX

having better performance adds value to your game it doesnt strip it of it's value, and a 10 years old visual in a great game strips it of value on the eyes of a lot of ppl, while top notch graphics give it more value and get interest from ppl who usualy wouldn't care about a cartoony game.

Great graphics didn't stop the Order 1886 being a piece of crap.

But great graphics don't prevent a game from being good. It's possible to have both fantastic gameplay and stunning visuals. The Order was a bad game because it was a bad game, from a studio that had really done nothing except handheld games and ports before it. A developer of Nintendo's quality has the talent and resources to not have to compromise.

True, so how would you rate Journey? I only played this for the first time on the PS4 recently and absolutely loved it. The game is beautiful but it's about the look, feel and experience overall not the resolution, FPS or complexity of the world.

I thought the same of Firewatch, which was noticeably laggy at times on PS4 but crafted a great looking world (if limited).

I really won't remember the visual fidelity of Rooney's bald patch in the latest FIFA in years to come but both Journey and Firewatch are games I'll remember for the rest of my days.

Maybe not what we all thought...

A lot of us haven't actually been reading these articles, especially the second one and have been angrily posting our thoughts. I will admit that I myself am also guilty of this, but today I actually took a look at what these rumours had to say, particularly related to the the 2nd WCCFTech link.

Looking more closely at these rumours (links on the first page) it may just be that the handheld system and not the home console would be using an Nvidia Tegra chip. Which would make much more sense. There's a few folks out there who think AMD Polaris for the home console for sure, and Nvidia Tegra for the handheld is a possibility.

As for the cross-platform features, one guy discusses and goes into detail about the differences in architecture and what it could mean for the rumoured cross-play features. I don't think the cross play thing is likely, as much as I want it to actually happen, but going for an ARM architecture for the handheld makes sense.

I won't get my hopes up though, even if Nvidia supply chips, Nintendo could still make a severely underpowered handheld once again.

Edit: Looks like there's a divide between the 'rumour-mongers'. The XB1-level performance seems to be supported by some chick called Emily Rogers (never heard of this person) and some other folk (the guy mentioned in the video I have heard of, he got 'rumour' videos taken down by Nintendo in the past for who knows what reasons) have been arguing against it. This is one reason why I hate rumours. This video is a neutral party just laying out what each side claims.
