I wonder if it disheartens AMD that the only reason nVidia fans/owners want them to do well is to keep nVidia's prices down

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. Great news.
Will be interesting to see what happens with both Pascal and Polaris launches. I would expect AMD's market share goes up some more.
Yeah 1070/80 wont sell, as their prices are too high, no one wants to spend more than £200 on a card after splashing out on a headest.
Well you deserve the price hikes then, as I don't play many games now I don't mind really, xcom2 is the only game I brought this year.
Tbf I feel that the console market is also a viable competitor to nVidia, and if they hike prices too much then people will just switch in droves
So it'll be a fairly fine balancing act...
Getting myself an Xim4 which allows me to properly use a mouse and keyboard with the ps4. The PC is my preffered system but the majority of my mates are on ps4. They are not going to know what hit them in fps games when i get it. Had a shot of my mates and in my first shot was 40/10 in black ops 3. With some tuning on my own mouse and practice, ownage will be coming there way.

I found this article (below). If true AMD are clawing back share, as they should.
Bring HBM memory to us and hitting the main stream consumers with Polaris should increase this further over the coming months.

Actually there were some reports a few months back of it being at around 25%.
Using the same source material, this writer puts them at 22.7% market share

I would think so since there Polaris cards will be cheaper and sell in good number if they offer good bang for buck. The 1070 and 1080 are too high end imo to drop AMD further.

Interesting, TBH the 22.7% sound more realistic. AMD simply haven't released products or slashed prices since they were at 18%.
It is understandable if Nvidia slipped slightly in the last quarter because everyone was waiting on Pascal.
22.7% is just Deskop.
There is 38.7% Laptop too. <actually pretty good while competing with Intel.
A total of 29.4%.
Or because they realeased a few bad drivers, and the maxwells fared bad in DX12 games
That may be but the historic low-point 18% market share figure is based on discrete desktop GPU's AFAIK, so AMD have gone form 18.1 to 22.7% which is a nice start and I hope it continues with Polaris.
