Hi all

Need some advice on booking a holiday for me and my wife's 1 year anniversary on 31st May.

Were both very flexible with dates and can fly any time now as long as were back for middle of June. We want 14 nights and ideally all inclusive.

Iv narrowed it down to the following with pro's and con's.

Dominican Republic - Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa £1350pp.
Pro: Decent beach. Decent food as its an 'Dreams' resort with many restaurants.
Cons: Not cheap at £2700 for 2! And nothing much to do there?

Cape Verdi - ClubHotel Riu Karamboa £800pp
Pro: Very clean beach but ocean is rough. Very cheap £1600 for 2!
Cons: Nothing to do there at all! Food won't be as good as Dominican?

Costa Rica - Riu Guanacaste £840pp
Pro: Its costa Rica!!! Loads of cool stuff to see and do. Cheap £1700 for 2!
Cons: Rainfall in May/June???

Turkey - Paloma Renaissance Antalya Beach Resort & Spa £850pp
Pro: Lots to do? Very cheap at only £1700 for 2!
Cons: Pebbly beach? Common with to many crowds at the hotels?

Anyone got any thoughts or advice on any of the above prices, destinations, weather etc?

Anyone who has been to any of these place and can advise me on their experience would be great!

Why all inclusive? Why a beach holiday?

Create better memories by doing an adventure, for that money i would be not sitting in a hotel getting fat for 2 weeks.

Check out the West Coast thread in the Motors forums.

Because some people don't mind having a lazy holiday?

To the OP - What kind of holiday are you looking for? Need a bit more detail :)

Of those I'd do Costa Rica s nicer mix of relaxation and some interesting stuff to do! Consider Mexico for something similar great beaches, top notch all inclusive places and some amazing culture to soak up!

Based on my knowledge of OCUK, the best possible answer to your query is: "She's probably cheating on you mate, speak to a lawyer and then chuck her". Not sure if that'll help you.. but I'm pretty sure this is the correct OCUK answer.

Weston Super Mare or... Morecambe? :D

With celebratory fish and chips on the wall by the café in the rain. :D

Really depends what you're into and the budget but across the Pond for a few days, maybe LA or SF with fly-Drive and take in a couple of National Parks or the Grand Canyon. Or more "local" perhaps one of the Canary Islands. Missus and I had our honeymoon in Tenerife then went back @ a year later. Avoided the south though and stayed in the north (Puerto) which as a bit less of a rancid tourist pit and fewer timeshare touts.

Unless you 100% want to actually be on holiday for the anniversary, I'd consider postponing until the 5th June. That's the date the school holidays will tend to finish, so might be slightly cheaper with flights and the like.
