An EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo has disappeared from radar, the Egyptian airline says.

It says there are 59 passengers and 10 crew members on board Flight MS804.

The aircraft was flying at 37,000ft (11,300m) when it went missing over the eastern Mediterranean. An official said the plane lost contact with radar at 02:45 Cairo time (00:45 GMT).

The company said it would issue an update "when more information becomes available"

Another one gone. :(

And so the chances of my stepping onto an aeroplane in the near future decrease even more.

There's not that much room for it to go missing this time is there?

I don't get these types of comments:confused: mind does boggle in all honesty when people come up with these statements.

You are more likely to die in a car crash than in an airplane. I mean thousands of flights all over the world and out of them, the odd one goes missing or crashes etc.

Anyhow hope they find it somehow, if not RIP to all that have lost their lives. I'm hoping this isn't some sort of terrorist attack.

Disappeared to the south of the region between the islands of Crete/Cyprus and nothing yet reported from searches. :(

Just think of how many car crashes there were around the world yesterday, best not get in another road vehicle, just in case

The only thing they know is it must have been a catastrophic failure of some sort as the plane just immediately 'disappeared' ie : all electronic communication stopped dead - radio, transponder, the lot, which is unusual....

The speculation to that is it may then be a nefarious reason :(

Doesn't look good :-(

Yea well said

Quote the whole thing...

Last October, a Russian passenger plane flying from Sharm el-Sheikh crashed over the Sinai peninsula killing all 224 people on board. Officials in Moscow and Egypt later said the aircraft was brought down by an explosive device.

Islamic State militants said they had bombed the plane.

@ jon86...saw your edit, no worries!

People would surely want the full facts before jumping to conclusions? That's what everyone in the 'Munich knife attack' thread said after it didn't turn out to be an Islamic/muslim attacker....

Aircraft built in 2003 so fairly young. The pilot and copilot appear to be reasonably experienced. One Briton was on board.

I hope they are OK but it's obviously unlikely. So RIP :(

With what happened in Paris not that long ago I'd be very surprised if anything was bought onto the plane, security in France is probably off the radar atm.

But as others have said lets wait until we have some more facts before jumping to conclusions.

Re. the comment on not flying, he could easily be referring to the terror that you imagine these poor people went through, prior to those double zeros in the graph above...

I myself had never flown until five years ago, and held this same opinion - but mine was based on the fear, assuming you're conscious through the falling, of knowing you are going to die. It's a horrible thought, what they must have gone through during that rapid descent.

Sure there's the old dying in a car argument, but that's just down to numbers surely - I'd also imagine that not many victims of car accidents, know they'll die minutes beforehand, as we all jump into those powered armchairs without a single thought something may befall us.

Hope these people are ok, if not then RIP - but for goodness sake GD, try not to be so hasty on someone's opinion, we don't all think alike.
