Liquid Cooled 1080 Hybrid.

Hmmm I like tinkering and I have spare shrouds due to EVGA giving out free updated versions. Plus those pumps are getting hard to get now, at least EVGA ones, so I just bought one on Ebay.com in speculation I might use it (or I'll wait for big Pascal) or just as a spare for my current 980 Ti.

Just seems all thats needed is a new shroud, so these could be coming quicker than the last ones as the rest of it seems to fit fine.

Does that not render the fan almost completely useless? Just going to be throwing air everywhere now surely?

The rear section of the shroud will direct the air through the VRM fins. He could easily notch the rear aluminium casting to route the cable and improve the flow but I guess they were doing it quickly to get views etc. on Youtube.

True I did have to wait for a while to get my original EVGA AIO upgrade but as EVGA appear to have discontinued that line of AIOs they are clearing stock at ~50% off in the US! They are still ~£90 over here of course.

didnt corsair make one too and discontinue?
maybe there was some lawsuit or something lol

Wheres the results though? No point if it just reaches the same overclock as its starved of juice......................

They're legal :) I'm guessing they'll release a new version as I don't think the design is very adaptive just runs at a constant rate I think.

The third part of the video is up and in the results it shows the 1080 getting 10-20% better frames with a clock speed 700mhz faster than a 980ti

700mhz faster than a standard 980ti or a 1500mhz overclocked one?

If they can only hit 2.2Ghz with this hybrid cooler then its either power holding them back or it won't make any difference as to what cooler you have as to your max overclock.

The cooler makes a massive difference as shown in the video, it never throttles with the hybrid whereas with the reference it's all over the place.

Lets not forget this is before we've seen custom bios and voltage increases.

So 2160mhz is the max for this card on a hybrid, it needs another 6pin connector as I thought it just couldn't pull enough power to get anywhere near 2400+.

Should be a good indication what a none reference card will run at think we'll be seeing them promising boost clocks on 2000/2100mhz with 3 fans, which will be better. But for me it still isn't enough to swap a heavy O/C'd Ti/TX for until we see the cards with extra pins like the full fat EVGA hybrid.

Does sound a bit pointless doesn't it for fps gains.
