Good lord, I've won something...

Attended a member's event at my local outdoors shop last night. Not been to one before (event, not the shop). They supply you with beers, nibbles, goody bags etc. and in return have brand suppliers on hand to demonstrate new/existing products. No hard sells but obviously looking to raise awareness and shift some gear.

They also had some competitions including the fastest 1km cycle with cash prizes and a free prize draw. The draw prizes were made up of 4 mannequins, dressed in a full selection of outdoor gear, two with men’s attire and two with women’s.

Names pulled out of a box later in the evening... low and behold who's name comes out first? Yup. Moi. Never won such a competition in my entire adult life.

What did I get:

Water proof jacket
Fleece
Hillwalking trousers
Pair of shoes of my choice

Could not believe it. Totally stunned. Checking the receipt later at home and turns out they've given me nearly £600 quids worth of clothing (not that monetary value is the point, just stating the fact).

Slightly sad thing is that 4 weeks ago I purchased a full set of similar items from that very shop. Can't have it all I guess. Still, I’m well chuffed and all the gear will be well used.

I note you've left out the important bit, that you won the clothes from the female mannequin.

I won a 'Neptune' Tri-monitor stand from OCUK (won by guessing what it was from a close-up pic of part of it).

Unfortunately, whilst a lovely bit of kit, it was no use to me, with my incompatible single monitor, so I sold it on the MM.

Previous wins include a crap 3rd party SNES controller from 'Total' magazine in the mid-nineties, and a load of Simpsons gear in The Sun from about 1991/2.

A pair of trainers from a sports shop when I was a kid.

Nothing of note since.... not even the yearly work raffle where almost everyone get a little something.

Last competition I won was the AMD Wallpaper competition here on the forums... I got some game codes I believe!

Or it might have been the other one on here, where I won some random simulator games and some stuffed toys...

Well done on clothing - shame you had kitted yourself out just before hand.

Local shoot I go to had a raffle a few years ago - had a quids worth - month's later when went to sign in he said you won raffle - What raffle - for the boat trip - Had a 70ft narrow boat for a week on shropshire union canal - I took it for three days - Mom and Brother brought it back. Was good for Brother as he had a 52ft one and was upgrading to 70ft - gave him an insight to what to have on his.

Congrats OP. Only significant win I have ever had was several years ago. I won an iPad 2 16gb in a local newspaper competition. I had forgotten that I entered and had been thinking of getting one for my son for some communication and music apps. That was a very welcome surprise and since then his school have introduced iPads for all students for various useful purposes.

Best thing I've ever won was a Galaxy S3 when it was launched. It was a Twitter competition by Samsung and I had to identity what was in a cropped picture. I simply reversed image searched it and won in seconds.

Not won anything other than a guess the weight of a Christmas cake.

Friend won £10k on the Graham Norton text in thing and his girlfriend spent all of it. Told her it was all gone and she split with him.

Same mates mum won a crossword comp to stay at Splash Landings at Towers which I got an invite on.
