Hey guys, off to Amsterdam from Gatwick on sunday for a week with a few mates.

Was wondering - it says free on flight meal and bar service for flights, will this be included on ours? Just wondering as it's such a short flight.

And also - anyone know what beer they have on board? :D

Thanks

Check your ticket/specific flight details as it will depend.

My experience of BA recently is that on short haul morning flights you would get a hot McMuffin style thing plus tea/coffee/soft drink, later flights were a sandwich plus a drink as before.

This. Small drink plus a bacon sandwich or equivalent.

Really do think for flights of less than 2 hours what is the point of food.

Maybe because it's not just 2 hours when you include the time taken to make it on to the flight, then however long it will take until you are at your destination?

Not everyone wants to waste time in the airport by standing queuing for food.

We flew Newcastle to Paris a few years ago. Got a Danish pasety and a coffee, basically it was clime to cruzeing altitude, serve coffee, then decent

Last time I flew BA was Edinburgh to London about 18 years ago. We got a hot breakfast of sausage, omelette, bacon and a roll. The ticket was only £5 more than Easyjet and flew into Heathrow rather than Luton.

AH okay then, thanks for the responses. I was hoping for a nice 7am pint haha.

I went skiing in Feb and flew BA, only a 2.5 hour flight at 8 in the morning. I asked for a beer instead of tea with my bacon croissant and got one :) Not sure if it's standard practice though, they might have just had one spare from a previous flight. Always worth asking!

Waste time queuing for food at a airport? Why is it a waste of time? What else are you going to be doing which is more important while you wait for the plane? , why not use that time for a better quality meal.

I flew to Amsterdam in March from Gatwick, all I got offered was a snack and a drink. But it depends on the hours, sometimes they don't serve alcohol. Like the flight to Stockholm last December I was on a 9am flight and just got a croissant and coffee.

Not sure what beers they have on the flight, i had a G&T and crisps to Amsterdam. And the beer cans are tiny, more like 330ml or may be less like 250ml so not enough for a proper pint.

I flew from Bristol to Amsterdam last week, 55 mins flight and sandwiches and drinks were offered - flew with KLM. Bit of a weird sandwich though, wafer think chicken, curry and carrot :/

Usually Tiger and Heineken on short haul. Check ba.com though as it does tell you.

They will serve beer at 7am, just ask.

Do you get a meal included on a 3 hour train journey ?

What's wrong with simply having breakfast before leaving the house? It's what I do. Are people incapable of going without food for a few hours or something? It's like people who sit there stuffing their pieholes in the cinema. And don't get me started on going to see a movie at a cinema in the US.

I have to admit, the last time I flew anywhere I had to wait 2 maybe 3 whole minutes to get my breakfast in the airport.

Whilst I get what you are saying, it's apples and oranges.

For one thing, you don't often have to travel 3 hours to the airport (for me, to Heathrow) and give yourself around 2 hours spare because you still have to get the bus from the car park to the airport and then go through customs and immigration and give a little spare in case of traffic.

So a trip to Amsterdam, door to door from house to hotel, it's like 7 to 8 hours journey.

If I am getting the train I can just walk to the station, takes 12 mins.

You might be "lucky" and live 10 mins away from the airport but I don't.

This is despite I tend not to eat airplane food. I tend to eat before I get on and sleep.

Yes.

I have a meal everytime I go from Preston to London Euston or vice a versa - and that's normally only 2hrs15min (upto 3hrs17min if not an express).
