BitFenix Spectre PWM 120mm Fan Red LED - Black 8x

Bought 8x of these from OCUK...... the price was great, and they look good, just wondering if they will be fine in pushpull on teh 480mm radiator,, as i plan on putting this monster in the top or the bottom of my phanteks etho promo case :)

also im right in saying that the 480mm rad has wide fins
so i wouldnt require pressure fans to push through high restriction with this radiator hence why i went for the above fans to as there a steal at the price i paid £6 per fan :)

So the fans are fine then ? :D

i have another question, if i put the radiator in the bottom of the case am i best to have it suck air in from the bottom set of fans and suck air in from the top set of fans as heat travels up right

as i know if the radiator was at the top of the case i would set it up as push pull going out the top of the case,, but unsure of the bottom direction of air ? lol

cause if i have the top radiator in push pull out the top and the bottom as push pull out the bottom wouldnt that cause heat build up around the motherboard ?

FPI on that rad is only 10 so you can use pretty much any fans on it. You only really need to worry about high static pressure fans when you have a rad with dense fins.

I have just switched back to fans in push configuration from push/pull on both my rads due to fan noise and my water temp is only around 1 degree warmer. I would just give it a try with either push or pull first. You will probably find it's more than enough, especially with that beast of a rad.

I have felt some really warm air coming off my rads so I wouldn't want that dumped into my case. The thing is with a bottom mounted rad if you have the rad set to exhaust out of the bottom it's going to sit under the case and the psu will suck it in. If you have it set to intake from under the case you have the hot air dumped inside the case so yes, the components on the motherboard, ram etc is going to run warmer so you need to get that air out of the case as fast as possible. Ideally you want the rad in the roof and set to exhaust out of the case.

I personally would have the radiator at the top. But if it was me i would get another rad and stick in in the bottom aswell. So much space in that case. the more rads you have the slower you can run those fans and have a more silent rig.

Dont even have to buy anymore fans. just run the rads in push or pull. Push/pull makes no difference in cooling. I had push/pull in my 900D with 2x 480 rads, didnt make a difference when i just went push on bottom rad and push on top.

Will be fine :)

I have a 360 Monsta push/pull in the bottom of my primo at the moment as well as 420 push/pull in the top and a 240 push at the front. All intakes :o and I haven't got around to fitting the rear and front side exhausts yet. Seems fine so far except I cannot slow the stock fans down enough (420 rad) so they are quite loud with the top filter fitted.

Hi mate, psu wont suck anything in on the phantek etho promo as the psu is stealthed in the back of the case :)
also i have the 8pack 2000w psu super flower platinum, its fan does not even spin up until around 1200w usage and i dont even think i use that much power anymore when i jumped from amd r9295x2 to 2x 980TI`s ;)

Well i will be running 2x monsta rads in my phantek case
360mm monsta and 480mm monsta one top and one bottom and there is still room to fit another one of i wanted

i will probably go with 480 at the top and 360 at the bottom so i get plently of room to place my pump/res ect :)

i also have another 120mm thick radiator that i could put in the front aswell or the side :)

i got lots of options hehe.. :)

The case is fantastic ehhh lots of options hehe :)

i might buy a skinny 240mm rad for placment in the front of the case :)

with the 360mm monsta in the bottom and the 480mm monsta in the top :)

its going to be fun next week when i start my build after stripping down my system to put in this new case :)

One thing i am worried about is GPU heat dumping onto CPU.....
as currently i got it a plan in my head as

res/pump/360mm rad/gpu2/gpu1/cpu/480mm rad/res

need to figure out a route to take so that the heat is not dumping onto cpu

possibly

res/pump/360mm rad/gpu2/gpu1/480mm rad/cpu/res ? though its going to be complicated running that as it will require more tubes lol

it make no difference, in a normal set up the difference in water temp is about 2c from the hottest point to coolest.
the thing that will make problem is flow rate, ppl have the pumps set too low this is what makes parts heat up not the gpu's cooking the cpu. turning a pump down to stop noise is bad, put the pump on a foam pad.

What GPU's are you running?
i would go rad > cpu > gpu 1/2 > rad > res > pump

2x 980Ti`s ;) @1500/2000 ....

--------

so going res/pump/480mm/cpu/gpu1/gpu2/360mm/res/pump

so that would be better ? i could always run

/res/pump/480mm/cpu/gpu1/gpu2/360mm/120mm/res/pump

just to cool the water faster at the end of the loop or would it make no difference adding the 120mm thick rad on the end ? or i could add a 240mm skinny rad on the end ?

This guy is right.

I run my D5 on number 2, And between that and 5 is around 4-6C on the gpus

Yeah same here, im using pretty similar setup, im using speed 3 on the d5, with low fpi rads i wouldnt bother with push/pull i tried it on mine and it made no difference at all.

Im only using 60mm rads though not monsters. You can get another 2 rads in there if ya want, im using a 360 top and bottom, a 240 at the front then a slimline 240 on the side. I believe Drangueos has even managed to squeeze another 140 in the back if ya really wanna pack um in ;)
