Stay with 980 Ti or upgrade to 1080 ?

But......by selling a 980ti now for say £380 and buying a 1080 for £630 you are spending over £750 for not a lot more performance. I think better to keep the 980ti for a couple more years.

Depends on how much money your willing to spend for these sorts of things. I sold my 980 Ti for £410 and I imagine the EVGA Hybrid 1080 will be no more than £600 tops. 20% increased performance, less heat and less noise for a couple hundred is definitely worth it to me. But then I'm the sort of person who will also upgrade to the 1080 Ti when it comes out.

I have a 100Hz 3440x1440 screen that can always use more graphical power even with games that are a couple of years old.

I personally wouldnt upgrade to a 1080 from a 980ti. Sure there's a minor performance improvement, but not enough to warrant the switch.

Yup, generally best to hold out a bit for an upgrade then it can be a night and day difference. Going from a 980 ti to a 1080 and gaining like 10fps...meh. =/

Its a hobby. I know loads of peope who spend money on stuff i dont get. I even know that buying a 1080 anywhere near release I am going to pay more than if I wait, but i dont really care. Stuff always gets cheaper later, but if i get 10-20 hours a week use out of something and it ends up costing me less than a pound an hour for the amount of usage i get from it then it just happens without even thinking about it.

By the time ive sold my old kit and bought whatever i fancy, having a highend PC and constantly fiddling with it doesnt even cost me a few hundred per year, its nothing compare with most hobbies.

My kids do after school clubs and even they cost more than a pound an hour!

Yep it's a hobby ...ignore them ...

Like people Buying a TN montior and thinking it's the nuts ? Meh I returned the garbage TN dell gsync that cost 500 quid in disgust...

It was meh.

Spending 150 quid on a new gfx card to push a real mans monitor 3440 X 1440 p makes sense to some...

Leave them to it...

Why did you think it was the nuts? TN is really good for high hz but crap viewing angles.

I didnt ...others do and cream all over anything with a rog badge...

Give me IPS 100 hz Superwide any day of the week...

Only caveat a single 980ti ain't good enough.

Maybe 2x 1070 will be able to push 100fps ?and draw far less power ?

Oh wait ....

See you use the word personally...I wouldn't spend 600 on a TN 27inch 16:9 monitor either...

Others would...
For the games i play the difference over 60Hz is night and day. TN is ideal for fast paced games. And i didnt spend anywhere near £400.00 let alone £600.00.:D

I personally wouldn't upgrade to a 5820k from a 4970k for gaming oh wait ?
That was more of a cheap sidegrade tbh. A 5820k, 16gb of ram, mobo and a 128gb pcie ssd for £400.00, (£100.00 after selling the 4790k setup). Now previous to that though i did "upgrade" from a 4770k to the 4790k. Bit silly yes and in all honesty a switch from a 980ti to a 1080 is the same.

I'd still take my swift over an X34. All about taste. Sub 100fps. No thanks. IPS glow and blb. No thanks. TN over IPS anyday for gaming. Unless you game with your monitor at a 45 degree angle.

You need a mans setup. Single 1080 is for women. SLI 1080s is a real mans setup :p

spend £679 on the rog swift got it before even released too

dont regret it at all cause its coming to 2 years and still the baddest gaming monitor

I took delivery of a Acer x34 last week, and going to be honest its much like 2560x1440, its a nice monitor and I would say its not the best of upgrade but it is a slight upgrade, maybe like 980ti > 1080, also youtube videos look like crap and blu ray software is a pain to work with, I am liking it though but I also love my swift, but can't keep both!

also feel like the screen kind of looks washed out or dull? maybe I need to mess with some settings haven't a clue about the settings tbh
