1080 is the fastest card, that now makes 980Ti mid range.

The 970 is kinda mid range.....now. On release it was the second fastest card out, thus high end.

So a 1070 being faster than the Titan X is mid range so Titan X is what? Low end?.

By your logic my 4870 that I have laying in a drawer must still be high end because once apon a time it was.

Well in past this will never happen.They will release it as 750TI for 100USD.But now they can rename it as 1090 and sell it for 800USD.This is what Nvidia doing and it start with kepler generation.

Because you know no one will buy 5% faster 750TI than 1080TI for 800USD.But everyone will buy it as 1090 for 800USD.

The difference being the 460 came out after the 480/470 and didn't command a huge price premium because it was never the fastest card out.

Lets say the 460 was out before the 480 by 6 months. It would not have been $200, NVIDIA would have charged a fortune for it. And Imo if it had been $600 and the fastest card out id say it was high end.
