Dilemma over buying a car from a friend - W.W.G.D.D??

Simple decision imo.

If you don't buy the car, she may get a bit ****ed off for a few weeks/months due to the faff off having to sell it elsewhere.

If you do buy the car and it costs you a fortune/brakes down constantly for the next X years, you're going to resent her and probably fall out permanently.

Don't buy the car

Walk away.

From the sounds of it she knows she is trying to offload a dodgy car on to you (hence service refusal etc).

She is trying to use your friendship to palm on to you a dodgy motor with an over the going the rate price.

Show her the AT quotes if you havent already.

Blame your boyfriend if you wish, say "he doesn't think it's worth £2500 and that you don't want to fall out over it after you've gone". Or any other of the above reasons.

As with the above, it may be your friend but shes clearly taking the ****

If there's anything that really makes you want the car show her the likes of WBAC and see what value they would give her. Go along with her see what they offer and add a fraction more ;)

If theres nothing that really makes you want th car other than its from a mate... Walk

She's not a very good friend if she's trying to sell you a lemon is she? She knows full well that nobody slightly savvy about cars is going to be running to the hills so she's just trying to palm it off on you.

Tell her you spent the money already and cant afford to buy car if you want. Or say you found a better offer and ur due to get it when shes left the country or somit. Or just be blunt and say ive had it tested and what u say and my mechanic say are totally different and i feel im being lied to by you and dont appreciate it so if ur dishonest to me about the car then FU and i will be glad ur out of the country when you go. :p

Unlike someone in Motors, actually take the advice in this thread and walk away, don't pretend like you are doing your friend a favor by buying a potential pain of a car, tell her straight you don't want it and be done with it, no need to faff about.

even if shes a friend, you cant let her bend you over if the car isnt worth what she wants. irrespective if you verbally said youd consider buying it.

poo in her exhaust? wait.. thats not right.

Walk away and stop trying to buy your way into her knickers as she is leaving the country and you are not going to get a goodbye shag :)

So your friends knows there's an electrical fault that will cost £500 to fix. She says it doesn't happen often but on one trip you had it occur 4-5 times?
Also the brakes, whether they barely pass MOT or not, sound like they need sorting soon regardless.

You offered to pay for an MOT which she turned down... I'm betting the brakes fail it!

Really sounds like she needs money ahead of going away and is trying to fleece you for as much as she can get! Just tell her, sorry it's not worth that but good luck selling it to someone else. Don't budge on your figure of £2k (id have a think if it's worth even that) if she starts bartering.

This was actually my line of thinking.

I had a friend run over me and my bike at the weekend so it could be worse, at least yours are just trying to rob you ;)
