I'm with Lloyd's currently but looking to change to Admiral as they are half the price.

What are Admiral like?

Everything looks to be the same or better.

Not really sure there is much more to it than that? If they have the cover and features you are looking for at a reasonable price then I'm sure it will be fine. Chances are you won't be using it anyway!

Just make sure it is a like-for-like comparison, so if your existing cover has Buildings, Contents, legal protection, accidental damage etc than make sure this is the same on your new quotes.. is the excess the same? If they are the same, then there's no reason not to switch.

Any insurance company is only any good when it comes to paying out, hopefully you'll not need it.

Just renewed with Admiral, never needed to claim but they are easy to deal with and always get an English person on the end of the phone........

Platinum cover was an excellent price and coverage for the things that matter seems good.

I find the things that you loose going cheaper are:

trace&fix (cover the cost to trace a leak and the cost to repair that trace work) - think this one is very important!
matching suit (e.g. break a sink, they will replace sink/toilet/bath) think this also applies to the likes of a kitchen cupboard door...they will keep everything matching.

I would only ever claim on a big thing like the two things above so I want them covered as much as I can and not end up with some rubbish fix that I could have done myself for cheaper.

I found Barclays to provide good cover but got very expensive a few years back.

I went with Santander, seems to cover everythign to silly levels.
But they weren't the cheapest.
Think I paid around £310

And that was after a sizable claim for a mobile phone.
Contents outside of the property covered :)

Cheers all.

It's about £320 but doesn't include accidental damage or protection away from home. It might be but my policy renewal states NOT including accidental damage.

I'll double check what it offers first then ring up Admiral.

Thanks all.

Go to an independent broker. Won't cost you much more, if anything and they can give experienced advice.

My wife works at a brokers, always very good and prices are easily comparable to going direct with the added cover that if the broker tells you something that is incorrect, you are covered because of their mistake by their own insurance :D

Anything you can think of is covered on the Santander policy I have lol :)
portable devices covered outside the home
accidental damage to both contents and building
Also got a few high value things covered too, again in and out of the house.

If a tree fell on my car I'd very much think to claim on my home insurance rather than my car one haha

Currently moving pretty much all my banking over to them... they them pay cashback for things like mortgages and insurances lol

I went with Axa. Such an easy process and you can set single article limits of £10k, which is good if you have fine jewellery or watches.

Cool. I'll have words with Santander then, especially about the account. :)

Yea deffo have a look at the 123 account, we grabbed a credit cards at the same time under the same credit check.

Made a few hundred quid on the 123 account alone just from the direct debits.
The CRedit card I pretty much use just for fuel, 3% cashback on top of the usual shell points :)

I do prefer Barclays online banking tho
