Hi all,

Thinking of going to Dubai towards the end of September.

Has anybody been around this time? ..and is it ok? or is the weather still too HOT?

Thanks

I went in October and found it a little too warm, but I guess it depends on what you like/can stand.

I went to Egypt in July once, now that was too hot.

I went there around that time. It was an awful place, completely fake, empty buildings and no culture. So I'd say it's not OK. :D

Have been to Egypt in June... Never again.

Just don't. It's not worth going somewhere too hot - you'll feel ill and try to escape the heat all the time.

What's with all the ... ? Are we all just pausing to look at each other in the eye awkwardly and then ... speaking?

I actually liked Dubai and can't wait to go back, yes, it's all new and glitzy, well, most of it anyway, but Deira at least has a feel of old Dubai, even if you are harassed by all the fake watch sellers in the gold district!

We went for 3 days as a stop off on the way back from NZ/Oz and 3 days was not enough to even do half of Dubai! The mall is huge and took us a day to do 3/4 of it (including to the top of the burj Khalifa).

I guess it's what you make of it ultimately, and if it's the newness of Dubai and all the skyscrapers etc that you want to see, then you won't be disappointed, there is so much to do there too. However, do your research if you want to go to a bar for a drink, they are all hidden out of view, usually in hotels etc, you won't just pass by one.

To your question though, yes, it'll still be hot in September.

Don't you just spend most of your time in air conditioned buildings anyway? have to admit I've never been except for transit through the airport.
I have relatives and friends in Dubai but have been putting off visiting as it doesn't float my boat. What kind of things do you do there on holiday?

Same I went there as a stop over on the way to Aus not expecting much but enjoyed my time there, so much so we are off there in September.

"..." doesn't indicate *awkward pause*, but follows a statement to indicate contemplation, much like the way you might have a split second pause in verbal dialogue to add emphasis (you may even pull a funny face of exclamation when doing so). Granted, the use of it in your post, whilst obviously made in jest, wouldn't make sense.

"I saw some posts in GD last night... the horror."

These are the rules I have decided are correct and I will aggressively tell you that you are wrong regardless of whether you're right /fox :p

Attend stonings, Grab A Goat Night and sing all 143 versus of "If you're Halal and you know it, clap your hands"?
